Coupon Mom: Stock up on staples at Kroger, personal care at Rite Aid

Keri: Rite Aid has Keri Lotion (15 ounce) priced at $5.99. Use the in-ad coupon on the back page of the store flyer to get $5 off, for a final cost of 99 cents. There is a coupon for $3 off two from the Oct. 14 SmartSource circular if you want to get two, but the store coupon says limit one store coupon per customer. If you bought two with the store and newspaper coupon together, your average cost would be $1.99 each.

Glade candles: Rite Aid has Glade jar candles on sale for $2.99 each. Use the $1.50-off-two coupon from the Dec. 2 SmartSource circular to pay $2.25 each. You will get a $2 +UP Reward on two, so your net cost will be $1.25 each.

7 Up: Rite Aid has 7 Up or Diet 7 Up 12-packs on sale for $3.33 each. You will get a $3 +UP Reward when you buy three, so your net cost will be $2.33 each.

Halls: Rite Aid has Halls cough drops (30 count) on sale for $1 each. Use the coupon for $1 off two from the Nov. 4 SmartSource circular to pay 50 cents each.


Meat, vegetables: Stock up on deals at Kroger to get your 2013 grocery spending off to a good start. Tyson boneless chicken breasts are $1.99 per pound, boneless pork loin is $2.49 per pound and Kroger chicken drumsticks and thighs (bone-in) are 99 cents per pound. Plan some meals to include green cabbage at only 39 cents per pound and mini peeled carrots at 99 cents for a 16-ounce bag.

Pasta, sauce: Kroger also has 50-percent-off sales on many items, including Classico Pasta Sauce (8.1- to 24-ounce jars). Usually $3, you’ll pay $1.50 per jar. Use the $1-off-two coupon from the Nov. 18 SmartSource circular to pay $1 per jar. Ronzoni pasta (12- to 16-ounce size) is on sale for 50 percent off, so you’ll pay about $1 per box.

Crackers, microwave meals: Nabisco Premium Saltines (9- to 16.5-ounce boxes) are on sale for 50 percent off, at about $1.64 per box. Use the 75-cents-off-two coupon from the Nov. 11 SmartSource circular to pay $1.26 per box. Hormel Compleats microwave meals are 50 percent off, priced at about $1.13 each. Use the $1 coupon from the Nov. 11 SmartSource circular to pay just 13 cents each! Keep in mind that 50-percent-off sale prices may vary by store.

Rite Aid is also offering a great deal on all fiber laxatives. 60% off when you use your card. Great for seasonal bloating and cramps!

Bob Lilly: Most sales items are used to get dated product off their shelves or as a loss leader to get more people into their store to buy other things. It is called marketing. Maybe you have never heard of this?
