My favorite (afforable) way to beat holiday stress? Spend time with your family and focus on what you already have instead of focusing on what holiday gifts to buy, parties to attend, and the like. So many in our country don’t have the luxury of being able to buy a gift or attend a holiday party, so please stop stressing and just be thankful for what you have this holiday season.

I usually take about 4 – 5 days of vacation to have enough time and energy devoted for shopping, cooking, family and friends. The 5th day of vacation is allocated for me to wind down and relax which may include reading, soaking in the tub, walking the trail or eating that piece of pie I hid from everyone

Reading by candlelight! There is something about the quiet and flicker of the flame that is sure to relax your body alongside a great book which in turns relieves the mind. All that is left to do is put on your warm fuzzy socks!

My favorite time to relax and be stress free is playing with my 2 dogs, Kobi and Koko. They are my stress relievers, and always put a smile on my face. They give me lots of kisses and always love to play. I call them my “snuggles” bc they love to snuggle all day and always make me happy! Plus they are waiting for thier xmas presents, they always know what they get under the tree, they start to open them before xmas

My favorite way to beat holiday stress is to drink some hot chocolate and sit with my feet up and one of my cats purring in my lap with a dog snoring at my side. My animals always make me happy.

My favorite way? Relax with a nice drink in a massage chair getting a manicure pedicure. Plug in headphones, sit back for at least an hour of uninterrupted mindless relaxation! This can be done totally alone, or with a group of friends. Usually I go with several friends and we all just relax and enjoy the pampering.

Preparing a soothing cup of tea! Even the act of taking the time to make it is soothing for me, because I know I’m about to have “me time.”

My favorite wa to relax is to eat popcorn, put on the coziest pair of socks, curl up on the couch and watch holiday comedies all night with my son. We have the best time laughing at the movie and spending time together.

I pour a glass of wine, get a 1.50 facial packet from Target, and recline like I’m in a spa. For an added bonus I get my husband to take the kids to the arcade while I’m doing this!

Send the kids to school, take a vacation day or a “cough-cough, I’m sick,” aka mental health day. Snuggle in the bed with a cup of hot chocolate and alternate between reading a good mystery and watching reruns of Roseanne, Cosby Show, Dick Van Dyke Show and any other classic TV. In between snoozing, take a nice long steamy shower. Do not answer phone. Do not check email. Do not do anything that I do not want to do.

my best way to beat stress is to make a list of everything I am grateful for, big and small. Read & re-read each one and realize my life is really great, could be so much worse and that there are millions of people in the world that would give their life right now to live the life I complain about.

My best way to relax during the holiday stress is to grab a cup of egg nog, a good book, and a hot tub filled with calgon and think about how lucky I am to have to a caring family and friends that are worth going through the stress for. (After I lock the bedroom door!)

I purchased everything during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The only time I need to make any new purchases can be during my lunch hour or during my rush home to buy any other gifts.
