Coupon Mom: Halloween candy, cereal and more

Save on candy

If you’re not tired of looking at candy, today’s the day to check out after-Halloween candy sales for future children’s parties with piñatas, gifts of mugs filled with candy for hostess or teacher gifts, party favors, baking and more. You can chop up chocolate candy at 75 percent to 90 percent off to use instead of baking chips for holiday baking bargains. I’ve done it!

Walgreens deals

General Mills cereal: Walgreens has General Mills cereals (8.9- to 12.3-ounce boxes) on sale for $1.99 each. Pay as little as $1.49 per box when you use coupons for selected varieties from the Sept. 23 SmartSource, Oct. 7 General Mills or Oct. 21 SmartSource circulars. Target has larger (14.8- to 18-ounce) General Mills cereals on sale for $2.99. When you buy three, you will get one free. If you use three of the 50-cent General Mills coupons referenced, you’ll pay $1.87 per larger box.

Advil: Get Advil PM Pain Relief (4 count) free at Walgreens. On sale for $1, use the $1 coupon from the Oct. 28 circular to pay zero at the register. When you buy Glucose Quick Sticks (12 pack) for $5.99, use its $5.99 mail-in rebate to get it free as well.

Finish, Nivea, Speed Stick, Dial: Combine two coupons with “buy one, get one free” deals at Walgreens to save 75 percent or more. For example, Finish Dishwasher products (including 10-pack Quantum, 20-pack Gelpacs or Tabs or 8.45-ounce Jet Dry) are BOGO. You can find coupons in the Oct. 14 SmartSource circular to save up to 75 percent. Nivea Body Wash (16.9 ounce) is BOGO, and you can find coupons in the Oct. 28 coupon circular. Speed Stick (2.3-3.25 ounce) is BOGO with $1 coupons in the Oct. 21 SmartSource circular. Dial for Men Body Wash is BOGO with $1 coupons in the Oct. 21 RedPlum circular. Dial bar soap (8 pack) is BOGO with 35-cent coupons in the Oct. 7 RedPlum circular. Find specific prices for the items in your store.

Rite Aid deals

Colgate: Rite Aid has Colgate Total Advanced (5.8 ounce) or Sensitive (6 ounce) on sale for $3.50. Use the 50-cent coupon from the SmartSource circular to pay $3 at the register. You will get a $3 +UP reward, so your net cost will be free.

Paper towels, tissues: Rite Aid has its store-brand Big Roll paper towels (single roll) and facial tissues (65- to 230-count or 8-count pocket packs) on sale for $1.50 each when you buy two. You also will get a $2 +UP Reward, so your net cost will be 50 cents each.

Gatorade, Aquafina, Sobe: Rite Aid has Gatorade (24 ounce to 32 ounce) Aquafina water (1 liter) and Sobe Lifewater (20 ounce) on sale for $1.25 each. When you buy four of these items, you’ll get $2 in +UP Rewards for the individual deal (limit four offers). The deal also is included in a broader promotion that gives you a $4 +UP Reward when you buy 12 qualifying items. Therefore, if you buy 12 bottles for $15 at the register, you’ll get three of the $2 +UP Rewards ($6) plus the $4 +UP promotion reward for a total of $10 in +UP Rewards. Your net cost will be $5, or 42 cents each.
