This mom of two toddlers is a money saving multi-tasker. She was a Black Friday dynamo even while unpacking a new home and creating her handmade hair bows, tutus and tulle wreaths.  Here’s how she puts her saving skills to work.

Q: Who is in your household?

A: My husband and two children, ages two and one.

The main thing was …

Black Friday started on Thanksgiving this year. Is the annual retail salesfest encroaching too far on the American institutions of family and football that usually mark Turkey Day?

Some retailers have been steadily taking Thanksgiving away from employees by starting the sales earlier and earlier over the last couple of years. Kmart was the first to do this several years ago by opening on Thanksgiving. Now others like Target, Walmart, and Toys R Us are following suit.

Meanwhile, retailers used to get upset when copies of their Black Friday ads leaked out on the web. Today, however, they …

Stacy Johnson, founder of takes issue with media outlets from Fox News to the Today Show that have featured Richard Lustig, a guy who claims he has the tricks to help you improve your odds.

Johnson interviewed Lustig months ago and feels that anyone practicing real journalism would poke holes in Lustig’s theories. So Johnson adds a little common sense to all the hype with his ways to not win the Powerball lottery:

The new daily deals

Daily deal sites have boomed since 2008 — new ones are still cropping up including the recently launched Atlanta-based — but  lately the going has been rough.

Not only have companies such as Groupon and Living Social reported third quarter losses, but the small retailers who utilize their services are becoming increasingly disappointed with the return on their investment.

Amazon Gold Box Deal of the Day: Amazon also offers lightening deals at different times through the day and deals in various categories.

Home Depot: Find the “Special Buy of the Day”  in the “Savings Center” tab at the top left of the homepage. Other deals are listed as well.

Target: You can visit the website to see …
