Halloween discounts: costumes, candy & more

With many stores breathlessly counting down the days ’til Halloween (8 days, 12 hours, 10 mins and 27, 26, 25 secs…according to Kmart.com) the deals on these seasonal items have begun.

COSTUMES: These are some of the best deals and it’s a good idea to buy now while the selection is still pretty good. Many stores have clearance costumes at even deeper discounts.

Target - Up to 50 percent off costumes for adults and children.  A bonus is seasonal shipping if you prefer to order online. Order by 10/27 and get it by 10/30. A witch costume for girls (pictured at left) is only $5. (Limited in-store availability).

Kmart - A large selection of costumes at 50 percent off for adults and children. This Red Riding Hood costume for women (pictured below)  is only $10. Options for men include a can of Coke for $25. Lots of choices for kids as well.

Babies R Us – Costumes for infants and toddlers priced at up to 60 percent off.

Wal-Mart – Affordable costumes for the entire family including a selection of plus-size costumes for women. They have children’s costumes in bundles of two for as low as $18. Free shipping on orders of $45 or more. Place orders by 10/25.

Party City – Costumes starting at $9.99. Coupons available for additional savings.

CANDY: Candy is selling out! Some selections are already out of stock.

Dollar General -  Bags of assorted candy including 55 count Hershey’s Jumbo Mix for $5.

CVS, Walgreens, and Target all have discounts, BOGOs and/or in-store coupons on Halloween candy of various types and sizes.

Also check Sam’s Club for discounts on purchases of multiple bags of candy.


Target - Items on clearance include pumpkin lights for $8.50.

Sears – Up to 50 percent off Halloween decor and costumes.

Ace Hardware -  This isn’t a sale, but the store has some of the most affordable Halloween home decor items out there. Shipping to store is free.

ATTRACTIONS: It’s not to late to get your scare on. From corn maze outings to The Grande at Kennesaw’s October 27th Masquerade Ball, there are activities to meet any budget and preference.

Half Off Depot – This deal site is offering an extra 31 percent discount on Halloween related attractions including the ones mentioned above.

Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia – Buy tickets online now for Oct. 26 – 28 at a savings of$15 compared to one-day admission price at the gate. Some haunted attractions require an additional fee.

Wow, we used to just make our own costumes to go trick-or-treating, but it’s so easy and cheap to get them online.
