Oktoberfest on the cheap
Wir geben eine party! Oktoberfest has arrived.
The AJC recently featured a round-up of Oktoberfest events. Here are a few others taking place on Saturday, Oct. 6 that may have particular appeal to bargain hunting revelers:
Der Biergarten, 300 Marietta St., 404-521-2728.
Time: Noon – 12 a.m.
Price: Free entry.
The Scene: Enjoy live music and free events including the Oktoberfest Olympics which features competitions for best beer belly and best mustache. There are also $8 specials on liters of German draft beers.
Fado Irish Pub & Restaurant, 273 Buckhead Ave., 404 -841-0066.
Time: Begins at 3:00 p.m.
Price: Wear Lederhosen and get in free. Tickets are $5 in advance at www.SpiralEntertainment.com.
The Scene: A street festival with contests and live German music playing all day. Astral Freaks take the stage at 6 p.m. followed by Atlanta’s favorite U2 tribute band, Desire at 8:30 p.m.
Trinity Lutheran 10th Annual Oktoberfest, 1826 Killian Hill Road, Lilburn, 770-972-4418.
Time: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Price: $3 entry. Free for children 10 and under. Free off-site parking with shuttle. Proceeds to benefit local charities.
The Scene: Authentic German food, craft fair, children’s carnival (including free game ticket with a canned food item) as well as live entertainment and dancing.
Holy Trinity Oktoberfest ‘12, 2922 Sandy Plains Rd., Marietta, 770 – 971-4600
Time: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Price: $2 for 12 and over. If you bring 4 cans of food for MUST Ministries for free admission. Free parking
The Scene: All day family fun includes authentic German food, live Polka music and dancing. Craft fair, games such as bingo and a horseshoe tournament and entertainment for kids including pony rides and a petting zoo.

Also, the historic Fourth Ward Park is hosting an Oktoberfest on Saturday the 6th, called “HOTOBERFEST 2012.”

10th annual Oktoberfest at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lilburn on Saturday October 6th. Atlanta Polka Band and of course German food and beer.

5 Seasons Westside has $25 ALL you can eat OR drink; $45 All you can eat AND drink; a la carte items available too. They will also have their Oktoberfest Lager tapped that morning. The Mercury Orkestar Brass Band will be playing from 3-6pm on the restaurants skyline-viewing rooftop patio. The menu will consist of traditional German fare.
