Spiegel: One of my favorite online stores is Spiegel.com, with an absolutely amazing clearance section. I found a bias-cut silk skirt for $74 (retail $179), a trench-style cropped jacket for $59 (retail $84) and signature washed linen wide-leg drawstring pants for $10 (retail $69). Another aspect I like about this site is that the store focuses on popular styles for the upcoming season in its trend alert. This section is just as exciting as the clearance section because it focuses on what’s hot at up to 70 percent off. I chose a basic “girlfriend” blazer for $49 (retail $99). Fun at the track

Atlanta Motor Speedway: “Thursday Thunder” features discounted admission and “Thirsty Thursday” concession deals too. Purchase tickets at the gate for $6 adults, $2 for kids ages 6-11 (kids 5 and younger are free; weekend admission regularly starts at $20). Then grab 12-ounce sodas, candy, chips and hot dogs for $1 each.
