The race is on — again.

Organizers expect 60,000 people this July 4 at the 2012 AJC Peachtree Road Race. If you want to be among them but didn’t snag a number during this year’s lottery (or yesterday), listen up. We have a pair of AJC Peachtree Road Race numbers we’re giving away!

Entering to win them is easy: just leave a comment below. Feel free to share your running story, your training routine, or why you’d like to run the Peachtree this year. You must use your real email address (which won’t show up on the blog). Only one entry per person.

Also, check out the AJC Peachtree Road Race Facebook page and Twitter account. And don’t miss the AJC Peachtree Road Race page, with great training tips, results from past years and more.

The winner will be randomly selected at noon today, and we’ll notify the winner via email. You’ll then need to submit your registration information to the Atlanta Track Club by 5 p.m. Friday. We’ll send full details to the winner.

Good luck!

I ran in last year’s Peachtree with my son and his fiance. We had the most amazing experience and promised each other that we would repeat every year. Unfortunately, this year we only snagged one number in the lottery so I am excited about this opportunity!!

Running is my Kryptonite (years of gymnastics = no cardio endurance) but I’ve been working on running for the past few months. I ran my first 2 5Ks this spring, but was oblivious when the initial Peachtree lottery came and went. I’d love to keep my momentum up and run this July 4! Thank you for the second chance!

My brother ran the P’tree in the 80’s. On his last race, he invited my stepmother to run with him. After running a few by herself, she invited me to run with her which also happened to be her last one. After a few of my own, I invited my sister and niece to run with me. They didn’t continue this little tradition we had started. That was in 1998. I haven’t run the P’tree since, but now my stepson has taken up running and has run two 5ks with me. He made it into the lottery, but I didn’t. I would so like this opportunity to run with him and get back to our family tradition. Crossing fingers…

The Peachtree Road Race is the world’s greatest race. Not because it is the largest 10K, not because of the challenge of heat and hills, but because of the people; Everyone that runs with you, everyone lining the course, cheering you on, and everyone that has run the race before. From Jeff Galloway, Don Kardong, Frank Shorter, Lasse Viren, and Sammy Kitwara to your next door neighbor, former PE coach, local librarian, and in my case, most of my department at work is part of this race. Runners, volunteers and spectators: I love and salute you all!

See you on the 4th!

There are very few events that define living in Atlanta. This is certainly one. While the prospect of sleeping in year is tempting, would love to continue running this year as I have the past 7.

I would LOVE to run in this!! I didn’t get picked from the lottery and I’m having no luck finding any numbers – I moved down here from Michigan almost 2 years ago and have heard nothing but great things about this race. I’ve wanted to run in it since I got here and would be so grateful to do so :)

I received a number last year was unable to race and thought I could use my number this year to be told I couldn’t because I didn’t pick up my number last year. This was very disappointing to me because I really want to run in the race for my first time. It was a waste of money for me being that I was unable to race and unable to use the number to race this year.

I am actually entering to win a place for my daughter, Andrea Gepfer. She ran it last year with my other daughter and inspired 6 people including myself to enter this year. We all got in but she did not. My daughters who both served in the military and in Iraq started running races in Atlanta after they both settled in Acworth. When my husband died unexpectedly last year they encouraged me to start running as a way to overcome my depression. Believe me when I tell you I was never a runner. In February I ran a half marathon and I will be running my first marathon in November with my daughters. Of the group of us running, Andrea is the only one who truly lives to run. I would love for her to be able to get a spot in the Peachtree road race.Because of her, I run, and running truly saved my life

Started running this year. Running combined with eating better has helped me lose almost 25 lbs. Would love to run the P’tree as a challenge to myself.
