Free outdoor movies in Atlanta

It doesn’t get much freer than this.

Take your date — or your family — along with a picnic basket to your local park this summer for free outdoor movies. Favorites this year include “We Bought a Zoo” and “Puss in Boots,” showing at multiple locations. Noticeably absent this year is Piedmont Park’s Screen on the Green, but Georgia Tech’s Flicks on Fifth and Atlantic Station’s Movies in the Park will continue showing in Midtown.

Most movies begin at dusk. Click on individual park links for more information.

EastPoint has a similar group of movies to be shown outdoor at the “Commons” park area. They’re even going to run Transformers which was a big hit at Piedmont. Other than that, it looks like everybody has the same movies to choose from. Wonder who’s paying the licence fees for this.

Thanks, Pm. I’ve added Friday Night Flicks, although it looks like the movie schedule is contingent upon voting.

Very sad to see screen on the green go away. We’ve been attending that for 10+ years. I know they had to move it to Centennial for a couple of years b/c of the drought but that was what did them in. The year it came back Piedmont all the rift raft/thugs came with it and ending up ruining it for everyone. Of course being an Atlanta native there’s no surprise. A lot of great things in this town have changed for the worse b/c of these careless folks. It will be interesting to see how many issues they have at Atlantic Station. That’s not going to be a safe environment for kids.

Check out the free movies at http://essimi.com. Cheaper than netflix streaming if you’re staying in…

100% agree with T.O., exactly my thoughts. 6 years ago I did not worry about my HS daughter and her friends attending Screen on the Green to see Breakfast @ Tiffany’s and getting back to Dunwoody via Marta safe and secure. They had such a good time. Not now. Its another fun, nice experience that has been ruined by thugs (with guns) who are looking for a fight. Sad, very sad.

No more thugs at Atlantic Station. Atlantic Station has even implemented a dress code. The thugs either got tired of being thrown off the property or arrested for coming back. Either way, the thugs have gotten the memo.

Atlantic Station is a great place to watch movies in the park.

I will be at Atlantic Station starting this Thursday with my family including my small children. Fun environment and very safe. Hate to see Screen on the Green succumb to the element but the park at Atlantic Station is perfect for an outdoor movie.

I’ve taken my daughter and friends to Atlantic Station quite a bit in the last few months just BECAUSE the events have been family friendly. The concerts, movies and St. Pat’s Day rocked! We take the free shuttle to Marta and have not had a bad experience yet. T.O. – no offense, but you clearly haven’t been there in a while.

The riff raff and thugs that T.O. and CHH are referring to have been run out of Atlantic Station. Movies in the Park is very family friendly. Bring your kids to Atlantic Station on Thursday night and see for yourselves. Atlantic Station now is not the same Atlantic Station from two years ago.

Would all Atlantic Station employees please post on a message board… but really atlantic station is slowly getting better though there was really no problem in the first place except the tenants and the concrete.

According to what Visit Lawrenceville posted on their FB, they’re showing Dolphin Tale at Rhodes Jordan Park on June 2nd. No mention of Puss in Boots at the courthouse.
