Eat better, shop smarter

eMeals.com: I recently discovered eMeals.com, but the company has been doing online meal planning since 2003. The eMeals.com team constructs more than 30 meal plans and grocery lists every week based on dietary preferences, as well as current sales and seasonal specials at selected grocery stores. Dinner menu plans cater to families or couples and you can choose from special types such as low-carb, low-fat, gluten-free or vegetarian dishes. Plus, it’s tailored to your regular grocery store. Use discount code Jessicashops to receive 15 percent off a subscription purchase, which can be as low as $5 a month. Expires March 31.

Shop like a dog

The Whole Dog: Spoil your pup this weekend at The Whole Dog Market’s grand opening. Enjoy refreshments, raffle prizes and giveaways such as toys, dog food and BOGO coupons for Yoforia. Stop by noon-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 985 Monroe Drive, Atlanta.

The full Jessica Shops column appears in the Deal Spotter section of the AJC on Thursdays. Visit the Jessica Shops website for more great finds.

The Whole Dog Market? Somebody didn’t think that through. Cease and desist letter for trademark infringement from Whole Foods Market in 5, 4, 3….

You kind of have to do more than just use letters from the same alphabet to infringe on trademarks. Whole Foods Dog Market would certainly be a problem but it seems to be a store that focusses on the whole dog deserves a name like this. You need to stop wishing you were an attorney.

Since Whole Foods has a seemingly unlimited amount of legal funds and Whole Dog Market is some locally owned small business, WF could just bury them with litigation that they could never properly fight. This is what Susan G Komen for the Cure did to any charity that used the phrase “for the cure”. If Whole Foods wanted to fight this, they would likely end up bankrupting the store or agreeing to a name change long before a fair verdict is reached. This is done by large companies and corporations all the time. America, F Yeah!
