Now’s the time to buy that grandfather clock you’ve been eyeing. Or the claw-foot bathtub. Or the bamboo folding screen.
Antiques & Interiors of Sandy Springs will close its doors Aug. 31, and the 33,000 square-foot antique mall is holding a huge liquidation sale the entire month of August before moving out.
Antiques & Interiors of Sandy Springs, formerly Lakewood Antique Gallery, is a mix of antique, vintage and designer furniture and home accessories including art, rugs, chandeliers, jewelry and giftware. Six years ago when the then Lakewood Antiques Gallery announced its closing, dealer Joan Leonard enlisted her son, Gregg, and daughter, Rhonda, to save veteran dealers from being forced to vacate. The Leonard family reopened the store as Antiques & Interiors of Sandy Springs in 2005.
Huge crowds are expected for what will be the biggest sale of the antique mall’s history. Everything must be sold by the end of August. According to Gregg Leonard, owner of Antiques & Interiors, “Prices will never be lower. Bring your friends… and your truck.”
Store Manager Rhonda Wigington is sad to see the store close. “We love our customers and remain true to them,” she says. “So if you’re considering buying furniture, now is the time.”

They’re not going to be “clearing out.” Many of the dealers will just pack up their things and move to another center. The center cannot force their tennants to drastically lower prices.

Another ploy to get customers thinking “It must Go” and just like Wendy said…dealers will move on and you will be stuck with the admission price and travel if your not from that area. I know…I got suckered into this in the past.

also be aware of the ploy of marking up things to mark them down. I’ve run across this more than once, it’s pretty common.
