Just in time for Black Friday TJ Maxx will sell iPads for $399, the store confirmed on Twitter today. In fact it told potential customers they didn’t have to wait till Nov. 26 for the $100 discount: “Not Black Friday. NOW! (select unadvertised stores only)”.
Bloggers immediately set out to see for themselves and found that it was indeed true. Some even got photos to prove it.
But don’t rush out just yet! We just made some calls to metro Atlanta stores and got a big-fat “no.” In fact, one associate went so far as to say only stores in N.Y. and N.J. got them and they are “sold out and will not sell anymore.” Not so sure this scripted response is 100% accurate but alas, Atlanta likely will not benefit from the deal. So who will?
TJ Maxx tweeted that “We aren’t advertising the iPad locales. This speaks to our ability to deliver WOWs! Never know what you’ll find!”
Oh well, you can still find Atlanta deals and steals right here for Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Wow, you alarmed me for a moment. I just bought a refurb iPad from Apple for $449 (just got it in the mail yesterday). I had started to say, “if only I had waited one more week”…
But, it begs the question, Apple products seem to be the same price wherever you go, so if TJ Maxx has it for it for $100 off, did they just let a coming price decrease out of the bag?

@ SWAT Native…sounds like a relatively inexpensive viral marketing campaign more than a looming price drop. You’re right in that Apple products rarely vary in price. Take a $100/each loss on what, maybe a few hundred iPads to create nationwide free buzz through tweets and blogs? Sounds like a good idea to me!

I don’t read your paper. I need you to exhume a particular article from page 22 of the Feb 4, 1958 issue of the Atlanta Constitution to resolve an enduring question about Toynbee tiles. Can you work on that please? The title of the article may contain “football” and “space”.
