10 tips to getting the best rate on your rent

I sometimes wish I had the hassle-free lifestyle of a renter. For instance, right now I wouldn’t be on the hunt for a low-cost pressure washer. I wouldn’t have had to worry about the fussy furnace over the winter. And I would never have spent time trying to save on a roof replacement.

Yes, the joy of renting. But, renters don’t get off easy. For starters, there’s the ordeal of finding an apartment or house — and making sure you’re paying a fair price for it. There’s no worse feeling than getting ripped off. Summer is a hot time for apartment hunting.

Click here for 10 tips from the Suddenly Frugal block to help ensure you’re getting a good deal:

Save on Phantom of the Opera | Free movie passes | Yelp Eats! Restaurant Week

Discount on Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera returns to the Fox Theatre June 30-July 18 for its farewell engagement. The producers of the opera announced earlier this year that the Third National Tour will close this fall in Los Angeles after a highly successful run of 17 years. That makes this a must-see for me. I just came across a great discount on Travelzoo.com. Use promo code TZOO to secure select tickets for $35. The applicable shows are July 6-9, and July 13-16. If those dates do not work for you, you can save $5 off tickets using promo code BRAVES.

Free Dinner and a Movie Ticket

I haven’t checked out the Studio Movie Grill in Alpharetta, but it sounds like it would be great fun. I will surely take advantage of this freebie. Using this coupon, you can get two movie passes. Be sure to click on the link for “more free movie passes” to avoid duplicating the barcode with someone else. Print and redeem the pass at the box office.
