The Atlanta History Center’s Veterans Remembrance Day program launches a special partnership with Americans Supporting Americans to foster a military unit stationed in Kandahar, Afghanistan. From June through September, the History Center will support Air Traffic Controllers with the F Company, 6th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment known as Skymasters. The foster program kicks off Memorial Day weekend. Visitors who donate a $10 phone card will get $5 off the price of admission to the Atlanta History Center. Free museum admission through Labor Day
The Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University is one of 600 museums nationally that will offer free admission to active military personnel and their families from Memorial Day, May 31, through Labor Day on Sept. 6. The promotion is the launch of Blue Star Museums, a partnership with the National Endowment of the Arts, Blue Star Families and the participating museums. Other local participating museums include the Center of Puppetry Arts, the High Museum of Art, the CDC/Global Health Odyssey Museum, Chieftans Museum (Rome) and Georgia Museum of Art (Athens).
