Among the highlights of summer are free outdoor movies throughout the area. From kid favorites like “Shrek” and “Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs,” to grownup flicks like “The Blind Side,” there are films for families with an urge to get outside under the stars. Movies start at dusk at each location. Here’s a quick lineup of the free movie series coming this summer.

Kennesaw’s Swift-Cantrell Park just had “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” this past Saturday. On June 12, they will be showing “Monsters vs. Aliens.”

@ Shayla…I have been to several of Atlantic Station movies in their park. They are great. I recommend getting there a little early as the fill up pretty quick before the movie start’s at dusk. It is first come, first serve.

The 501st Legion Imperial Costuming Organization will be out in “Force” and in character at the Piedmont Park Screen on the Green showing of “Star Wars episode IV: A New Hope” June 17th prior to the start of the movie!

Join the National Center for Civil and Human Rights for a free film festival in July. The Center will present four thought-provoking contemporary hits with civil and human rights themes. All films will be shown in Woodruff Park in Downtown Atlanta. Enjoy dinner at 6:30 p.m at a nearby restaurant and get comfortable on the lawn for the films at dusk.
