Free recital by pianist Simone Dinnerstein
Pianist Simone Dinnerstein will perform a free one-hour recital on March 31 to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank for Orchestras Feeding America. Admission is free with a donation of non-perishable food items. The event begins at 7 p.m. at the Woodruff Arts Centre. Attendees will also receive a 10 percent off ticket voucher to one of Dinnerstein’s upcoming concerts with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on April 1 and April 3. There, the food drive, which includes 160 orchestras in every state, will continue.
$10 “Black Pearl Sings” preview tickets
“Black Pearl Sings” plays at the Horizon Theatre March 26 through April 25. It tells the story of Susannah, who travels the country recording lost traditional songs. When she finds Pearl in a Texas prison, she discovers dozens of musical treasures rooted in the African tradition. Pearl must decide whether to give away her ancestors’ songs for a chance at her own freedom. Preview tickets are $10, plus tax, on Thursday, March 25. The cost goes up to $30 for opening night and $25 on Saturday night.
