What is the best consignment store in metro Atlanta? You weigh in.

If they haven’t already begun, many retailers will start swapping their winter and fall inventory for spring attire.

That means you should be able to find some pretty good deals as stores rush to make room for all of the new stuff. That has me thinking about going clothes shopping this weekend, something I rarely do.

It also made me wonder what the best thrift stores and the best consignment stores are in metro Atlanta. I just learned that Career Fashion Consignment, a high-end career clothing shop for men and women, has discounted all items in the store even beyond its regular 50-75 percent off prices.

I also got a tip that Park Avenue Thrift store in Lawrenceville has prices starting at $1.75 on Thursdays, and the price drops 25 cents per day until Wednesday. On Wednesday, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., everything is a quarter. A quarter!

Now, I don’t know about you, but those are the kinds of prices that will point my vehicle in that direction. But not so fast…

What would you say are the best thrift stores and consignment stores for clothes? Where can a fashion-conscious diva and a blue jeans gal find great deals on clothes, shoes and bags? And for the guys, where’s the best place they can go to score big on clothes and shoes?

Finders Keepers in Avondale Estates – they have designer wear at low, low prices and a clean, well organized store. Plus they have a furniture store right down the street – I never buy retail anymore!

I find great stuff on ebay all the time – I just bought a pair of brand new never-worn Michael Kors shoes for $38 – they are currently selling for $98 at Macy’s. I almost never pay retail any more except maybe at Target.

Some of the consignment shops are outrageously over-priced. Unfortunately, I have been cheated on more than a few occasions when consigning couture items to the local shops. The finer the item, the less likely that I am compensated for the sale of the item. The shop owner reports that these items were either `stolen` or `lost`, and of course, they were `not responsible`. (Hmmm… nice profit for free merchandise!!!).

I strongly recommend donating your upscale items to the NEARLY NEW SHOP located in the Northside Drive shopping center near I-75. The shop has a varied selection for the entire family for every occasion. The shop is owned and managed by the Junior League of Atlanta. The advantages for the shoppers are:

1. Incredible, Affordable Prices
2. Awesome Sales on every holiday…. even the minor holidays.
3. Selections for women, men and children
4. Career wear for women and men
5. Special Occasion Attire
6. Furnishing for the home
7. High volume of new merchandise coming in on a consistent basis
8. Merchandise donated by 4,000+ members of the Junior League of Atlanta, which operates the shop.
9. Proceeds raised by the shop directly support the community. Funds are allocated to quality non-profit organizations vetted by the Junior League of Atlanta

Donations in excellent condition are welcome. Please make sure clothing has been washed or dry-cleaned and is on hangers.

By far the Best consignment shop is Back By Popular Demand. It is in Lilburn and that is a little ways out from our Murphy Candler neighborhood but totally worth it ! They have designer clothes, shoes and beautiful purses. Melissa owns the store and is great about keeping buyers and sellers up to date on Ladies night out and even has her inventory on line — Great store, make the trip there, its worth it.

All stores are different in how they are presented & do their consignment rules so i would recommend trying a few before discounting the “consignment” scene as a whole. Right now tons of them have super specials going on in their stores. I use the atlantaconsignmentstores.com website to find stores closest to my home and then wonder out further on Saturday’s. As a side note I always check out their websites before I go. It tells you alot about what to expect! Personally I perfer consignment if nothing else for the smell and organization that I never seem to find at the thrift stores!

@Donated rather..I have been to that shop and wasn’t that impressed with it..ALL of the shoes look like they are more than 10 years old, they are way over priced on a lot of stuff and the kicker is that the staff are not friendly one bit..That was just my experience there..

Atlanta has the best consignment shops and I know because I check out the shops whenever I travel. I buy clothing and sell clothing at both Finders Keepers shops and have done business with them for years. My wardrobe always stays current and my closet stays purged and this helps my bank account, too! It’s the best way to shop. I love Finders Keepers but check out http://www.atlantaconsignmentstores.com for a store near you.

Finders Keepers is one of my favorite places to shop……for every special occasion I head to Finders Keepers for the perfect outfit – and I always find it…..the bonus is I find it at a fraction of the cos!. I confess I am a label snob and the good news is I can afford to have that affliction at Finders Keepers.

I love to shop at Alexis Suitcase in Roswell and Sandy Springs. The selection there is great, and the store is extremely organized. They even carry a large selection of boutique items that are BRAND NEW but priced at consignment prices!
Another place I love to shop is ConsignmentChic.com. There are items listed from shops all around the country, and Alexis Suitcase is one of them! http://consignmentchic.com.

The nicest compliment I have heard in a long time was at Finders Keepers Furniture location in Decatur. I overheard someone say as they came in the door that “walking in to this store was like a big hug” I agree !!!!

I love Finders Keepers for clothes – both locations!! The boutique in Decatur to get my “designer” fix (at an amazing price!) and I always find such great deals in the Avondale store as well. The stores are always decorated in such a pleasing way and the people who work there are the BEST…very helpful and friendly.

There is a good one off of 575 and exit 8 called ‘Your Turn Kids’. The prices are awesome and she only takes really nice stuff and has a ton of boutique clothes (Hannah, Oilily, etc.) there usually. My daughter always looks great and we get most all of her clothes there. My only issue is sometimes the folks that work there are snobby (why, I don’t know) and unhelpful.

The Nearly New Shop on Northside Drive is the very best merchandise at the best prices. Also enjoy shopping at Value Village in Decatur and Goodwill in Lilburn. I can’t believe I wasted so much money at retail stores in the past. If it wasn’t for underwear or gifts, I probably would never go back to Macy’s.

I haven’t been to many but the sheer size of the Goodwill on Buford Highway always impresses me when they have an entire 20ft rack of tops that are all one color. Plus, incredibly cheap house goods. Especially for the kitchen!

M’Ro Consignment Boutique is the best kept secret in Kennesaw. Ladies, it’s worth the drive! It is the cleanest, most organized & friendly store you will find. She has a wonderful selection of Ann Taylor • Coldwater Creek • J Jill • Talbots • Ralph Lauren • Chicos & more – including spectacular quality handmade jewelry by local artisans and fabulous shoes & handbags. Located @ 2839 Cherokee Street, near the Locomotive Museum in Downtown Historic Kennesaw. You can call for her hours and questions 678-354-2768. I’ve been thrilled with this store since the first day I wandered in. You won’t be disappointed

There’s a consignment boutique in Decatur called Finders Keepers. It’s so nice! It looks like a real store the second you walk in, and the people that work there are really sweet. They’ve styled me for a couple of important events and I always get compliments. They have tons of Banana Republic and J Crew, but also have designers like Armani, D&G, Prada, and Chanel! It’s like a little treasure box in the middle of Decatur. If you haven’t been already you should totally check it out!

I LOVE LABELS RESALE BOUTIQUE in Buckhead! You can buy high-end fashions at rock bottom prices. The owners are super friendly and treat their customers like family. They also have an awesome selection of vintage clothing and accessories. The best part is the FIFTY PERCENT OFF ROOM where the rock bottom prices go to half off! The bargains are UNBELIEVABLE! Check out the website to learn more and can shop online.

Just discovered a new consignment shop in Decatur called D & V Plus Fashions. The plus-size-only store has lots of good, clean, name-brand stuff to pick from. The prices are really good — I bought a dress (size 20) to wear to a party for $18! Plus, size 11 dressy shoes. They have a lot of jeans, tops and other casual clothes. They’re on N. Druid Hills Rd. and have a website: dvplusfashions.com Fun!

I was surprised by Le Dress Boutique in Buckhead. I needed a long gown for a black tie event and they had lots of great special occasion dresses (short and long). I got a great dress there. They have high end bridal gowns too. I also like B Chic in Buckhead for cute seperates and some more casual dresses.
