Save on Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks have one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now. You don’t have to go broke to see them play, either. There are a few deals out there, including the one I just came across: four upper level tickets and four Chick-fil-A combos for $89 (regularly priced at $120). The deal is for Friday night tilts in January, including the New York Knicks on Jan. 1, the Phoenix Suns on Jan. 15 and the Charlotte Bobcats on Jan. 22. To get closer to the action, you can get the Terrace Sideline ticket package for $109 (regularly $172), or the Mezzanine Baseline package for $129 (regularly $208). Click here to purchase the tickets.

Restaurant gift certificates…for $2

There’s still time to save big on gift certificates. Through Dec. 31, purchases from the site are 80 percent off. That means $25 gift certificates are just $2. These are meant to be gifts, so the recipient would redeem the gift certificate on the site for usable restaurant discounts. For a limited time, you can also get a free $10 gift certificate with every purchase. The purchases with the discount can also be used for the Dinner of the Month club.

Discounts on Circus Tickets

The circus is coming to town! Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circus is under the Big Top in Atlanta, Feb. 13-22 at Philips Arena. It’s always a great time, and luckily, tickets are generally affordable. Here’s a way you can save money on this family entertainment option. Use the promo code GASSOUTH to save 20 percent on tickets regularly priced at $14, $22 or $28. The discount is good for every six tickets purchased. Also, you can save 50 percent on opening night tickets on Feb. 13, for tickets in price categories of $14 through $35 using promo code, THRILL.

Discount on bowling

Bowling on the Wii is fun, but in my mind, it’s no replacement for the real deal — knocking down pins for a strike inside a real bowling alley. I don’t think I’m alone. Otherwise, this wouldn’t be such a hot deal on You can bowl for two hours at any Brunswick Zone location for only $10. That’s a saving of $15. The one catch is that for this deal, you have to three or more certificates. Still, who wants to bowl alone anyway?

Seriously, check your math.

You said: “There’s still time to save big on gift certificates. Through Dec. 31, purchases from the site are 80 percent off. That means $25 gift certificates are just $2.” You even wrote in bold letters: “Restaurant gift certificates…for $2.”

If the $25 cards are 80% off, then they cost $5 – NOT $2 (that would be 92% off).

Seriously...loosen up

The math is correct— the $25 certs usually cost $10, so 80% off would be $2.

Actually, certificates are like coupons. They require a minimum purchase at the restaurant (usually $50 if the certificate is for $25 off) and have limitations (ie dinner only, alcohol doesn’t count, etc). So, to call them gifts is stretching it a bit.
