If you haven’t found in Zhu Zhu pet hamsters and you’re getting antsy, get in line. The holiday season’s hottest toy has been as elusive as it is cute.
There’s relief on the way, though. Walmart announced today that starting Monday, it will stock up on the Zhu Zhu pet hamsters and sell them for $8, starting at 7 a.m. Dec. 21-23. Customers will be assigned numbers as lines build. There is a limit of one robotic toy per person, and Walmart said there will be a minimum of 20 sold per day at smaller stores and more than a 60 day in its largest retail outlets.
Additionally, a number of other toys marked for $8, will be further discounted by 20 to 50 percent on Sunday, Dec. 20. Included on the list are Nerf-n-Force Sword and Barbie Fashonista dolls, among others. On Saturday, Dec. 19, the store will have an 8GB iPod nano for $145 that comes with a free $50 iTunes gift card.
Toys “R” Us announced this week that it will have “more than one million” of the popular hamster toys, plus accessories, available in stores across the country. On Friday, Dec. 18, at least 100 were to be available at every location nationwide.
On Saturday, Dec. 19, the four newest Zhu Zhu hamsters — Jilly, Winky, Scoodles and Nugget — will debut at at Toys “R” Us. Individual hamsters and exclusive four-packs will be available. The first 50 customers in line when the doors open at 6 a.m. will have an opportunity to purchase the four-pack, the retailer announced. Sunday, Dec. 20, through Dec. 24, they’ll be available with limited quantities per person.

I stood in line for hours this morning at Toys R Us… but they didn’t have any left. They are going really cheap on Ebay right now. Same price as the store but no lines or headaches.

I got a 4 pack of Zhus at the Toys R Us by Cumberland Mall on Saturday (Dec 19) morning. They cost $49.99. The Toys R Us are stocking these 4 packs every morning. We split the pack with another family who was looking for the hamsters. The toys are NOT individually packaged. All 4 are in one see-through box. It came out to $13.25 per hamster with tax. Not terrible during the Christmas rush.

I have a complete set of four on Craigslist right now for $75. I sold two sets a couple of weeks ago for $125 for each set. That helped me finance my Christmas presents for family and friends….thanks!

horrible, horrible toy..i too thought itwas very cute at first…within first 3 min of playing with it ,my 5 years olds hair got caught in the wheels. She was screaming crying, as it kept on crawling up all they way to scalp, the wheels wouldnt stop turning adn eveyr turn would pull her hair even more. I tried putting it off several times, without sucess. It woudl not go off!!! This all took a little over an hour! Finally was able to locate small screw driver to take battery cap off, once i got out batteries it stopped turning the wheels. I had to break the wheels off just to get the hair apart of it. It was a very, very large chunk of her hair(which is long) and it was up front, which iswhy I didnt want to cut it. Although, she was beggin me to just cut it to get it off of her. These toys should be recalled…this experience was very traumatizing for both of us…wouldn def not reccomend!!!!
