Free Museum Days
The Bank of America free museum days are this weekend, Saturday and Sunday. There is a change, however. Three of the area’s cultural attractions — Fernbank Museum of Natural History, Atlanta Botanical Garden and Zoo Atlanta — will participate only through this weekend. The other three — the High Museum, Millennium Gate and the Atlanta History Center — will continue participation through December 2010.
All of the museums are free this weekend to Bank of America cardholders. You have to present a valid debit or credit card for admission, along with identification. The program allows free admission the first full weekend of each month.
Free Tuba Concert
I went to college where arguably the best band in the nation, the Marching 100 of Florida A&M University, dazzled and entertained fans every Saturday. Among the most impressive members were always the tuba players at the end of a performance. I wouldn’t expect these tuba players to march, but I would have high hopes for this unique holiday show — the Tuba Christmas at the Underground — on Dec. 4. The show is free.
Toys for Tours
I mentioned this promotion a while back, but here’s a reminder: Children ages 13 and under can get free tours of Turner field by helping another child. Donate a new, unwrapped toy to the Atlanta Braves Foundation between Dec. 1-22 and get a free tour of the Atlanta Braves home field. All toys will be donated to the Emmaus House.
