Free desserts | New deal-saving site | 3-day sale on “Young Frankenstein”

Free Desserts

Before you read this, I must ask: Do you have an exercise plan? If not, move on to the next item. It’s the time of the year when desserts, all kinds and all delicious, find their way onto our plates. Pot luck dinners at work, holiday parties and yes, dessert giveaways. I’d like to indulge — and likely will — but I know I’ll have to work even harder to burn all of the extra calories. Here’s a mouth-watering deal: Piece of Cake bakery in Roswell is holding an open house from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, where there will be plenty of delightful goodies to sample including layer cakes in flavors such as red velvet, white chocolate and caramel. I’m told there will also be cupcakes, cookies and brownies to taste. While you’re there, keep in mind there is a one-day only 20 percent discount on all purchases at the Roswell location. The bakery is located at 10971 Crabapple Rd., Suite 1300, Roswell.

3-day sale on “Young Frankenstein”

In honor of the 35th anniversary of the movie, “Young Frankenstein,” there will be a three-day sale on tickets for the show coming to the Fox Theatre in January. Tickets are on sale now, and beginning Wednesday, the sale will feature $35 tickets in all price levels. The tickets can be purchased by phone,  online or at The Fox Theatre Box Office using the password TURKEY.

It’s a New Deal — New deal site in town slashes retail prices

The playing field is becoming more competitive, which is good for those of us trying to save money.Today, yet another deal-saving Web site has opened shop in Atlanta — LivingSocialDeals. It’s a lot like the ones we’ve become familiar with: Groupon.com, Mydailythread.com which has a bonus deal attached to the purchase, and for both half-off certificates and daily deals, Halfoffdepot.com. LivingSocialDeals uses the community or group buying power and social media to drive down prices. It is already in business in New York City, Boston and Washington, D.C. Today’s deal is $30 for an hour-long massage at The Float Massage, a 54 percent discount and a $65 value.
