My son was at the Best Buy in Edgewood, in Atlanta Ga at 9:00 pm Thanksgiving evening and he was number 15 in line was still not able to get his lap top for 197.00, because this lady in front of the line kept call her relatives and at 3:00 am when they started handing tickets out all her relatives got all the best deals. Best Buy managers did nothing to correct the problem most dire hard customers went away empty handed including my son, even if she was in line at 11:00 am Thanksgiving morning how can you hold the line for 3 SUVs and 2 carloads of your family and friends which was about 20 people and at 2:30am they all show up and get in the front of the line. APD and Best Buy personnel did nothing to handle the problem. I recommend anyone donot shop at this Best Buy. This was not fair.

There is no 1080P broadcast for your TV, people. Over the Air, Cable, Satellite, whatever. It's NATIVE picture is 720P, which when you interlace it, is 1080i.. There's a difference between progressive(P) and interlace(i).

Since the recent switch, there are NO plans for ANY of the broadcasts to be in 1080P.

The only PURE 1080P picture you can get, is from a Blu-Ray player, or if your gaming with a PS3, or XBOX360 with the appropriate picture.

So no.. Your NY Cablevision is not 1080P. Verizons' new FIOS is not 1080P.

Courtney, You must have a helluva eye, because everything you watch is 720P. You can't tell the difference in 720P and 1080i.. I'm sorry, but you really can't, and if you were watching anything but a Blu-Ray, you can't tell. Your DirectTV or Comcast is 720P when you watch ANYTHING in HD.

Chris, you are correct. At certain distance viewing, once you get over 50" at less than 12', it's rather hard for anyone to see the difference in 720P and 1080P. Most people that have 1080P TV's have never seen a 1080P signal.. And guess what, what you saw in the store, wasn't 1080P.. It's a spliced 720P signal!!

Or Maybe: Thanks for the heads-up. The link has been updated with one I found on another shopping site, but the official link to the policy from the corporation is down right now. I just put a call in to Target to alert them. You'll find all you need to know by clicking on the link now, though.

This is great BUT... Target has removed their "Low Price Promise" from their website. What does this mean?

At up to 50", 720p is absolutely fine. You don't start seeing differences until you get higher than that at the appropriate viewing distance. If you're watching a 42" TV at two feet, then yeah. Otherwise, anyone who tells you they can see the difference in 1080p and 720p at the recommended distance is lying.

There are no providers, aside from FIOS (maybe), which isn't available here, that broadcast all their stations in 1080p. Go for the 720p, and use that extra savings on other things.

Directv now has a single pay per view channel that shows 1080p movies. They are launching a new satellite that will enable them to offer a much better selection during the first half of next year. $6.99 per movie.
