My wife and I drove up to the Dillard House just past Tallulah Gorge 2 weeks ago for our 15th anniversary. The meal was more than $40 but not by much and was well worth it for the amount of food and it's fresness. Then went to the Gorge via the $5 fee to get into the state park and toured the little exibit there and took the short (about a 1/4 mile) stroll to the first viewing station. WOW! beautiful! The leaves were great, view was stunning, well worth the trip and if you skipped the big meal in favor of a picnic, even with gas it should be about $40 for the whole day.

I think you mentioned state parks in a past cheap date blog, so I second that idea.
