Save on ghosts and goblins tours and haunts

What’s scarier than ghosts and goblins? Ghosts and goblins that charge you to see them and their antics. Now, that’s not very nice, is it? Want to save on Halloween events? Here are just a few ways:

– Scream on the Green, a spin on Screen on the Green at Centennial Olympic Park, will show a free screening of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone on Halloween night. There will be trick-or-treating as well. The movie starts at 6:30 p.m.

– The Lawrenceville Ghost Trolley Tour, one of the more popular during the spooky season, is $15 if  you don’t take advantage of this discount. If you know this is the Halloween event for you, go to Halfoffdepot.com and buy one of the half-price tickets for $7.50.

– Halloweve at Dixieland Fun Park touts itself as South Atlanta’s largest haunt, featuring terrifying attractions. I’ve never been, but I’ll take their word for it. Plus, it’s cheap. Save 50 percent, brining your ticket price to $7, by buying them here.

Mummies and Milkshakes. Now, I never would have thought of pairing Egyptian mummies from the Carlos Museum and Jake’s Ice Cream, but it just might work.  There will also be hot chocolate if that’s your preference. It’s happening at Emory’s quadrangle on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. After you see the mummies in the Egyptian galleries, you can watch vintage mummy cartoons and the hilarious Three Stooges short,  ‘We Want Our Mummy,’ followed by the 1932 classic ‘The Mummy,’ with Boris Karloff. It’s $5 for non-members and free for members. You do have to RSVP by Oct. 23.

I like to give the kids ice cubes on Halloween, it’s funny and a real money saver.
