‘Color Purple’ ticket discount
The Color Purple has come through Atlanta before, but never with former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino on stage. The Fox Theatre has special ticket prices for this popular musical: $39.50 tickets for select performances — Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m.; Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1:30 p.m. The prices are available for all seats except the VIP seating. To get this ticket price, you must make your purchase at Publix locations with Ticketmaster outlets. Keep in mind, though, that Fantasia is not performing Sunday matinees throughout the show’s run.

The Color Purple opened on Broadway in 2005 and ran for two record breaking years. It is based on the classic Pulitzer-Prize winning novel by Alice Walker and the movie by Steven Spielberg.

“Fantasia is not performing on Sundays throughout the show’s run.” Does this mean she won’t perform on 9-20-09 or that she won’t perform on the following Sunday? Thanks

Fantasia is not performing in the Sunday matinee (1:30pm)shows. I was buying tickets for my wife and I and it specificallly states that. Ended up buying for the 7pm showing.

According to Ticketmaster, Fantasia is not performing the Sunday 1:30 shows. I hope that hasn’t change because I bought tickets for the 7pm show too.

Got opening night tickets from my daughter on Mother’s Day!!! I waited a long time for this day! Went to see the production without Fantasia last year and it was good. I KNOW this is going to be exceptional!

Feel fortunate. I bought my tickets when they first started advertising the show on the radio (about a month ago.) And of course, they are for the Sunday Matinee show. At that time there was no mention of her not performing the 1:30 shows. Of course, I cannot get a refund or exchange the tickets for another show. Fantasia was the ONLY reason I wanted to see the show.
