Deep discounts: Atlanta History Center | 7 Stages | Free college fair

Deep Discount at The Atlanta History Center

The Atlanta History Center is one of the Southeast’s largest history museums. It has award-winning exhibitions, and houses a wealth of cultural and educational features. Yet, I’ve not gone. It’s on my to-do list, and this deal makes it even more appealing. A family of four — two adults and up to four children between the ages of 4-12 — can visit for only $19.99, shockingly below the regular $75 admission fee for the same number of people. Children 3 and under are free. You’ll need to purchase your ticket here. Don’t be confused by the clunky language on the Web site. I stumbled through it as well, but called the Atlanta History Center to clarify.

Discounted tickets for 7 Stages’ HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical

First, the fact that this show will feature a number of local bands and musicians caught my attention. Then the price. The preview show for HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical at 8 p.m. Sept. 11 is $10. That’s $7.50 off the regular Friday night showing of the musical that runs through Oct. 10. But you can also take $5 off any ticket if you’re a student, senior citizen, artist, educator, military or a Delta SkyMiles member. That covers a lot of people. That’s makes it $20 on Saturdays, and $12.50 on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Free college fair

If your child is trying to figure out which college to attend, it might help to attend the free college fair sponsored by the 100 Black Men of Atlanta. Registration is open until Sept. 14, and the College Fair is Sept. 26 in the South Tower Exhibit Hall at the Omni Hotel. The fair, held in conjunction with the Atlanta Football Classic, is open to high school juniors and seniors. More than 50 institutions are expected from Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and Georgia. Students must register, but the event is free. Students are encouraged to bring their transcripts and SAT or ACT scores. To register, contact the 100 Black Men of Atlanta at 404-525-6220 or check with your school counselor.

Atlanta Arts Festival

The Atlanta Arts Festival returns to Piedmont Park Sept. 12-13. The event will feature the works of 200 of the country’s top artisans. As always, the event is free, and most definitely worth attending.

Correction: No local Zaxby’s freebie

Yesterday’s post about the free Zaxby’s Milkshake isn’t good for Georgians. The coupon didn’t indicate that it was good in South Carolina only.
