Fast cars and free pizza | Free Arby’s | Value Indie Film Fest

There’s cheap. There’s free. And then there’s value, which is what you’ll get with a $40 all-access pass to the Atlanta Underground Film Festival Aug. 26-30. The ticket includes access to scheduled events for the AUFF, DocuFest (Aug. 26-30) and Animation Attack! (Aug. 26-27 and 29-30). With individual tickets $8, this is a steal for anyone interested in seeing as many independent films as they can in the five-day window. The events, featuring more than 100 films, will be held throughout the city at eight different venues. That’s a lot of short films, documentaries and full-length indie films for off-the-commercial-path movie buffs.

For a deeper dive, be sure to take part in a new addition to the film festival, a series of free discussions over cocktails with the film directors. They are being held at 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday at The Studio Bar at The Artmore Hotel, 1302 W. Peachtree St. Read more about the films here.

Last day for Arby’s Summer Giveaways

Wednesday is the final day to get a freebie at Arby’s. Every Wednesday throughout the summer, the restaurant has given away food and drinks. This week, it’s the Arby’s Beef ‘N Cheddar sandwich that’s free with the purchase of a soft drink.

Fast cars and pizza

As the story goes, in 1983 “Papa” John Schnatter sold his prized 1971 Z28 Camaro, bought $1,600 worth of used restaurant equipment and began selling pizzas. He was so successful, he expanded the business and opened the first Papa John’s restaurant in 1984.

But he never forgot about the beauty that was his car.

Well, Schnatter, after years of searching, was at last reunited with his beloved car. I had to look that up after learning that Papa John’s is giving away a free one-topping, large pizza to anyone who comes by the restaurant in a Camaro on Wednesday and orders a pizza.

It’s a heck of a story, and a great deal to boot.

Frozen Strawberry Lemonade

I love strawberry anything. And I love lemonade. That makes this an easy one for me. With any purchase at Einstein Bagels, you can get a free frozen strawberry lemonade with this coupon.

One more…

I love it when there’s a good story, or a good cause, behind a giveaway. The Make A Wish Foundation and Cold Stone Creamery have partnered to host the “World’s Largest Ice Cream Social,” a fundraising event to benefit this worthy organization.

On Sept. 24, enjoy a 3-ounce ‘Creation’ developed by 5-year-old wish child and 2009 Junior Tastemaster, Jack. He’s on to something, combining sweet ice cream with brownie, sprinkles and fudge. Jack’s Creation will be available from 5-8 p.m. in exchange for a donation to a local Make-A-Wish Foundation chapter. You can also visit your local Cold Stone Creamery from September 1-30 to purchase a Make-A-Wish® star.
