Chicks, Flicks and Chocolate: Fried Green Tomatoes

This sounds like fun! On Aug. 21, the Earl Smith Strand Theatre will host a night just for girls: one of my favorite movies, Fried Green Tomatoes, along with a dessert reception on the theatre’s rooftop terrace and one drink — all for $15. Reservations for the 7 p.m. show must be made by Aug. 19. Tickets to the movie only are $7. All tickets can be purchased in advance, or at the door: Call 770-293-0080 or visit the website.

Dora The Explorer

If you haven’t secured the $10 off tickets and you want to go see Dora The Explorer Live! at the Fox Theatre Aug. 21-23. Tickets are buy one, get one free on Travelzoo.com, using the promo code TZOO. Tickets range from $12 to $29. By the way, if I haven’t said it before, go ahead and bookmark this site. There are regular travel, hotel and entertainment deals that Atlantans can certainly take advantage of.

Free Night of Theatre

This one comes the long way — from Fort Worth Cities on the Cheap blogger, to Jennifer at Atlanta on the Cheap, to here — but we’re glad it landed: Free Night of Theatre!

This sounds like it could be really special. On Oct. 15, theatres across the country will offer 75,000 tickets for free admission to musicals and plays. It’s put on by Theatre Communications group, and is in its fifth year. There are no specifics yet; the website just instructs you to return for updates. I’ll be sure to do that, but in the meantime, go ahead and clear your calendar and bookmark the site.
