Downtown Restaurant Week extended through Sunday | More deals

We won’t question the motivation. We’re just here to make the most of the opportunity and with that, we extend a hardy cheer for the one-week extension of Downtown Restaurant Week. The culinary gift began July 27 and will now stretch through Sunday, Aug. 16.

If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, check out the menus for the participating restaurants. You should also read food writer Meridith Ford Goldman’s dining reviews of dozens of Atlanta’s best.

Taste of Asia Week

Yes, more food. The Taste of Asia week is today through Sunday, as well. There are more than 20 restaurants participating, from neighborhood spots like Doc Chey’s Noodle House, to popular chains such as PF Chang’s China Bistro. Diners can enjoy a three-course meal or family dining for prices from $19.95 to $28.

One more

Just indulge me. Before moving on, let me bring to your attention Restaurant.com’s 80 percent off deal this week — $2 for $25 gift cards, using the promo code ‘Portion.’ Be sure to choose a restaurant you’re sure to go to, and keep an eye on the fine print, as the restaurant you select may require a minimum purchase. Despite that, 80 percent off is a steal.

Under the Stars

Starlight Drive-In is making a date or family night out very inexpensive through August. Actually, it’s a bargain anytime, but especially now, with $1 admission per car during the Turner Classic Movie Night Under the Stars through Aug. 30. You can pack the car, bring your own food and drinks and catch a classic film. There’s also a free medium popcorn in the deal with the purchase of a medium drink (one per car):

Sunday, Aug. 16: To Catch a Thief

Sunday, Aug. 23: Bonnie & Clyde

Sunday, Aug. 30: Lolita

Stop! Half Off on Atlanta’s hot spots: Fernbank, Medieval Times, Atlanta Zoo and Georgia Aquarium

I have HalfOffDepot.com bookmarked, and for good reason. You can find them in my blog roll every day. This is just another great deal offered. I’ve mixed and matched deals to get my family into Medieval Times, and I’ve never come in under $145 dollars. This will surely help: half off tickets for $25. As always, there are a limited number of tickets available, so you do have to move quickly. Fernbank tickets are only $7.50 here while they last. Also see deals on the Georgia Aquarium and the Atlanta Zoo.

Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show

I saw this post by Jennifer on Atlanta on the Cheap: Free Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show in Cartersville this weekend. This would be a great, free outing for the kids, proving that life doesn’t have to stop just because school is back in session.
