Starting next week, I’ll highlight two new features here on Atlanta Bargain Hunter.
Every week I’ll be in search of people who’ve devised strategies to make specific savings in their life. This Tuesday, I’ll write about saving on car insurance. If you have a story to tell about how you slashed your car insurance payment, comment here or send me an email.
Maybe you traveled on the cheap, entertained guests on a budget, made good work of coupons or partnered with your neighbors to share some expenses. Don’t hold onto your tips; share with other Atlanta Bargain Hunter readers.
On Wednesdays, I’ll debut the DIY feature. You want to know how to do something yourself and need help from an expert? Ask your questions here, and I’ll find the answer. How do you paint your walls without making a mess? Install a flat screen television above your fireplace? Change your oil? Get rid of the ugly stain in your carpet? Sew a new dress?
If you’re an expert fixer-upper willing to lend your low-budget tips, comment or send me an email. And if you have how-to questions, ask away. We’re all ears!
As always, I’ll bring you frugal and fun date ideas on Thursdays, and personal finance expert advice on Friday mornings.
Thanks for reading.

I have always been frugal – must be the Scot in me – with coupon cutting (well worth the $2 Sunday AJC) and being part of Kroger Plus club, but since being laid off, I have had to really step up my game. I changed car insurance companies, even though I had had the same provider for nearly 20 years. I was fortunate to find a referral from my GSU Alumni Association for Liberty Mutual, and now my car insurance for myself and my oldest son is half what is was, without changing any of the coverage and increasing the deductible. I had checked into AARP, but their referrals were about the same as my previous provider.
I am blessed to be able to do a lot of DIY services myself, with the exception of major electrical projects, and have taken over the landscape and cleaning duties that were once paid to others. I am available in the Kennesaw Acworth area if someone needs a solid handyman.
