Staycation
The spectacular Atlanta weather the past few days reminded me of a staycation bargain you might want to check out — especially if the temperature remains cooler than normal. The Sheraton Atlanta hotel downtown is running a “Beat the Heat” promotion through August, allowing guests to pay a room rate matching the temperature at 3 p.m. check-in. The deal is for Thursday through Sunday check-ins, and applies each night during the weekend stay. Parking is free, too. Online and telephone reservations will be made at a default rate of $109 per night, and the rate will be adjusted on the day of check-in.
Exhibit-Aquarium deal
America I AM: The African-American Imprint, and the Georgia Aquarium have teamed up to offer a pretty substantial discount to people interested in hitting both locations. The combo ticket is $33.75, can be purchased at both locations and are valid Tuesday-Sunday only. If you really have endurance, there is complimentary shuttle service between the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center and the Georgia Aquarium. If that’s too much, you have seven days to use both tickets. Tickets are $23.50 for children ages 3-12.
‘Christmas in July’
If you’ve already begun thinking about holiday decorations for your home and yard, you may want to take advantage of this deal. Hill Street Warehouse, at 1357 Collier Road, is slashing holiday merchandise prices 60 percent Thursday-Saturday, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Girls’ Night Out
You gotta love them. If it’s been a long week, or even if it hasn’t, you can unwind with your girlfriends on Wednesday nights at Aqua Blue Restaurant and Bar in Roswell. Appetizers and drink specials are $5.
Free Steak Sandwich
This has my mouth watering. If you have a taste for a steak dinner, but aren’t in position to pay a lot for it, having a free steak sandwich at Morton’s The Steakhouse in downtown Atlanta is a wonderful option. From 5-7 p.m., Monday through Friday, the sandwiches are free in the bar area. You have to buy a drink with your order, but that’s about it.
