Culture notes: Free folk concert Saturday at History Center; arts website scores $15,000 grant

Free folk concert at History Center

The leader of Meridian Herald, the Atlanta folk music-worship group, will fly solo for a free hour-long concert Saturday at the Atlanta History Center, “Sing the Wind — Folk Songs with Steven Darsey. Darsey will perform in the balladeer tradition of Tommy Makem and Burl Ives, with the 4 p.m. program likely to include folk chestnuts such as “Danny Boy” and Darsey’s setting of Sidney Lanier’s “Song of the Chattahoochee.” Free, with donations supporting Meridian Herald. 130 W. Arts website scores $15,000 grant

ArtsATL.com has received a $15,000 grant from the Charles Loridans Foundation.

Foundation chairman Robert Edge called the web site “an important new resource in our community” for its work in informing Atlantans about exhibitions, performances and other events. HOWARD POUSNER
