Spano to play avant-garde composition at Emory
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra music director Robert Spano, a pianist, will give a free performance of John Cage’s “Lecture on Nothing” at 8 p.m. Friday[3/25] at Emory University’s Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. “Lecture” “challenges how we define music, and invites us to hear the musicality of speech,” Spano, an Emory distinguished artist in residence, said in an Emory release. “It questions our notions of form and content.” In Emerson Concert Hall, 1700 N. Decatur Road, Atlanta. 404-727-5050, www.arts.emory.edu. HOWARD POUSNER
