Culture notes: Lewis Grizzard show, KSU collection exhibit opening Monday

THEATER
Recalling Grizzard
Bill Oberst Jr. brings his one-man show “Lewis Grizzard: In His Own Words” to Stone Mountain’s ART Station for performances Wednesday through Sunday,[1/12-16] plus a lunchtime show (complete with boxed lunch) at noon Monday.[1/10] It’s the ninth consecutive year that the actor has visited with different shows combining the late Atlanta Journal-Constitution columnist’s writings and stand-up comedy. Shows are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday. 770-469-1105, www.artstation.org. HOWARD POUSNER

ART
KSU exhibit
Kennesaw State University is amid a $3 million campaign to expand its museum, and an exhibit opening Monday[1/10] in the Bailey Performance Center’s Clayton Gallery should suggest the depth of the school’s deep art holdings. The 35 works in “Modern and Contemporary Art from the Permanent Collection” include paintings, sculpture and works on paper by Thomas Hart Benton, Viola Frey, N.C. Wyeth and others. For the first time, KSU visual arts students provided research and catalog writing. Through April 28. 770-499-3223, www.kennesaw.edu/arts/galleries. HOWARD POUSNER

I saw this show a few years ago in Canton. Bill Oberst makes you think that you are seeing and hearing Lewis Grizzard himself. Any Grizzard fan should see it.
