The winner of this year’s “American Idol” now has a video for his single “Live Like We’re Dying.” Yah, that Kris Allen guy. His single has yet to make it to the top 40 and is now at No. 42 on the Hot AC charts. At least it’s still climbing. It’s actually a pretty catchy tune, even if the title evokes that Tim McGraw song.

In the video, Kris sings in what appears to be an abandoned warehouse with a black grand piano, ripped drapes, wind tunnels and a clock that is ticking downward. The song title says it all.

Hollywood Reporter says Ryan Seacrest is producing a new reality show in which average citizens beg for cash from celebrities and moguls.

The eight-episode run will start Dec. 14 on E!

In “Bank of Hollywood,” a panel of notable names takes pitches from Americans in need of cash. The proposals range from a do-gooder raising money for charity to a grad student who can’t afford a ring to propose to his girlfriend. “The idea’s simple,” Seacrest said. “We are giving away tons of money to everyday people to alleviate the stress of today’s climate and have fun.”

Okay, these so-called celebrities are not exactly A List. The story lists folks like Candy Spelling (Tori’s mom), poker player Vanessa Rousso, Wilhelmina Models president Sean Patterson and Pussycat Dolls singer Melody Thornton. Yes, that’s a Pussycat Doll nobody remembers! (But I posted a gratuitous picture of her above left anyway!)

The man accused of stalking Ryan Seacrest pleaded not guilty yesterday in court to felony stalking.

Chidi Uzomah Jr., who is 25 (but looks 40 in his ever attractive mug shot) has been ordered to stay at least 500 feet away from Seacrest for the next three years, according to the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Uzomah is a sergeant with the Army Reserves and part of the special forces.

Army spokesman Lt. Col. Nathan Banks told TMZ, “We apologize to Ryan Seacrest. Pending the outcome of the local investigation, the Army will decide what further action to take. We take all matters of our personnel seriously.”

This is the price of fame, unfortunately. We have no clue what his rationale for going after Seacrest is.

Carrie Underwood is doing the big media barrage to promote her third album “Play On.”

She broadened the types of producers she used for this album, including Kara DioGuardi, Canadian singer songwriter Chantal Kreziazuk and Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida, according to a piece in USA Today. She also worked with Max Martin, who is the kingpin for the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Britney Spears and more recently, Adam Lambert. “Cowboy Casanova,” her latest hit, was coproduced by Mike Elizondo, who has worked with Nelly Furtado and Pink.

“I’d take some other small element and bring it into our world to see what we could do with it,” Underwood says. “Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t, but I think it ended up being different and progressive.”

Ryan Seacrest has been granted a restraining order against a man arrested Friday at E! Network studios for alleged stalking. (Yes. I’m in Los Angeles right now but it’s not me.)

Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr, 25 (in the photo TMZ got), was arrested after he entered the E! building. Uzomah had asked for Seacrest and was armed with a knife.

Mr Uzomah is on probation for another recent incident involving Seacrest, in which he attacked the star’s guard.

That’s scary stuff. This guy sounded like he wanted to hurt Seacrest.

As MJ noted, it’s very highly processed vocally. He is definitely fishing in that Lady GaGa/Katy Perry arena. While he is fairly restrained for the first three minutes, he throws in a few of his distinctive vocal gymnastics at the end, and not in a bad way. Tell me what you think. (MJ has it here.)

While on the plane, I listened to Kelly Clarkson’s “All I Ever Wanted” on the Delta seatback entertainment system. Great CD. And while reading a cover story on EW about “Glee,” the creator Ryan Murphy said he’s thinking about asking Adam to make an appearance.

“Debut single is called “For Your Entertainment” get ready to shake yo asses to this song. It’ll make ya dance for sure. ”

He’s also taping “Oprah” today. His soundtrack song “Time For Miracles” sold 47,000 downloads last week.

I’m sure we’ll soon find out what he had for lunch, too.

Here’s the Adam Lambert cover, in all its 80s retro glam glory. If you love him, you’ll love it. If you don’t, well, avert your eyes.

And yes, Kris Allen exists. He did a prank call earlier this week with a so-called vocal coach on Miami’s Y100. I wish Allen had been funnier though the coach had trouble differentiating Allen with Clay Aiken.

Besides Adam Lambert, the American Music Awards will feature Carrie Underwood, Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson as performers. The show airs on ABC November 22.

Lambert’s first single will be out by then. Speculation is it will be a song written by Pink and Max Martin. We’ll find out next week. Underwood will probably sing “Cowboy Casanova” while Daughtry may sing “No Surprise” or his new single “Life After You.” Certainly, Clarkson will sing “Already Gone,” which just hit the top 10 on the Mediabase top 40 charts.

“Cowboy Casanova” is up to No. 4 on the country chart, her. That’s her tenth consecutive top 5 hit. Crazy! (Georgia’s own Zac Brown Band is No. 1 with “Toes”).

Dunwoody High School grad Ryan Seacrest came back to his hometown Saturday to host the Hearts and Hands gala for Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities at the World of Coke. I caught up with him while he toured the year-old 50-room home near Emory University earlier in the day. (I attended a different charity event that night called Chopstix For Charity.)

Seacrest, looking relaxed and chipper in a Coca Cola T-shirt and jeans, spent more than hour meeting with families before CEO Linda Morris gave him a grand tour. She explained how families are able to use the home while their children are getting treatment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta or other local children’s hospitals. The place, which resembles a snazzy hotel, even has separate laundry facilities.
