Jordin Sparks may have sputtered with her last album but she is ably trying other things. First, Broadway, now talking pictures!

Sparks is starring in a remake of a 1976 film called “Sparkle,” which was loosely based on the Supremes. (Take that, Jennifer Hudson and your “Dreamgirls” Oscar!) Whitney Houston is in talks to be Sparks’ mom. Comic Mike Epps is in the film, too, according to Hollywood Reporter.

- Gavin DeGraw and David Cook are co-headlining a tour that will take them to Athens at the Classic Centre November 10. Tickets go on sale Sept. 16.

- Kelly Clarkson’s “Mr. Know It All” has jumped into the top 30 on the top 40 charts.

- Kellie Pickler will be on “90210″ tonight on the CW singing “Tough.”
