‘Idol’ wins a few minor Creative Emmys; the extended ‘X Factor’ preview reel

“American Idol” took home two minor Creative Emmys for sound mixing and technical direction last night while Ryan Seacrest lost yet again as best reality show host to Jeff Probst of “Survivor.”

This doesn’t bode well for “Idol” to win best competitive reality program next Sunday. “Idol” has never won.

- The press last week received a 12-minute preview reel of “The X Factor.” Here’s a cut-down eight-minute version that aired last night:

Deirdre, the Falcons stunk up the place yesterday. They’ve got some major practicing to do !

Hi y’all,

Honestly, I don’t think Idol is ever going to win the big Emmy. It probably is “past it’s prime” and all.

I have to save judgment on the X Factor promo until this evening. Youtube is not my friend at work.

Oh, and speaking of Kara…word is she’ll have a duet in Kelly’s album. I don’t mind Kara, but :?

It was not a good sports weekend in Georgia. The Braves seem to have forgotten that there’s still baseball to be played and got swept! The Dawgs choked Saturday, and the Falcons were horrid yesterday.

It sure was a bad weekend for Ga. sports K&C fan.

So true, we must NEVER allow 9/11/01 to be shoved away. Only a matter ot time before the “it never happened” idiots join the “Holocaust is a farce” idiots, but it cannot be allowed to happen.

I pretty much cried all morning and most of the evening. Took a break mid day and went out to lunch and took the pup up th Marietta SQ to walk around and visit the Farmers Market (ymmmm – just-laid eggs, fresh honey, some spinach and okra picked yesterday morning, and the most beautiful gigantic cinnamon roll I’ve ever seen!) And my tiny Poodle girl had her first modelling gig. A young lady and photographer were shooting in the park, and asked if they could use my little one for a few pix. Hope they turned out well.

Did enjoy Paul’s concert – man, in 5 weeks, he got together a huge number of stars – forgot how many as 10 years have now passed. Amazing! CBS had a show about a documentary two French brothers were making starting 9/10 at a fire station near the towers. The cameraman was actually inside the first tower lobby with the chief and filmed all that was going on – the most amazing film I’ve ever seen!

I think Ryan needs to wait 40 years until he is given some lifetime achievement award.

X-Factor… still waiting.

Idol’s constantly being snubbed in spite of its popularity and huge viewership reminds me of Steven Spielberg being denied Oscars for so long. It was if Hollywod thought, “with all that money and success you don’t need us”.

Awards shows are lame. I’d much rather watch shows/movies/music that get overlooked by the “major” awards shows because that probably means they’re actually good, and not something the networks are trying to shove down our throats.

I’m still in a quandary as to why Jeff Probst wins almost every year for a taped, scripted show when Ryan, Kat Deely and Tom Bergeron, year after year, handle live tv with professionalism, a sense of humor and an ability to handle whatever happens.

D, I have to agree with Ryan, Kat and Tim! I don’t get it either.

And Tech? As in…Chattahooche Tech? ;)

In the good news category… looks like Harriett’s beach vacation is safe. Projected paths show Maria staying well out to sea.

Diana DeGarmo has joined the cast of The Young and The Restless as Angeline, the daughter of mob boss Angelo. She’ll show up on tv in late October.

No singing there i’d think (never watched a daytime soap in my life) – seems more broadwayish

Cliff Robertson…Andy Whitfield … who would the third one be? Mary Fickett! For JT, a soap star.

Totally sad about young, talented “Spartacus”.

JT, not as many as they used to…ABC canceled two. All My Children ends in two weeks, One Life to Live ends early next year, and perhaps General Hospital after it.

Kinda sad about the soaps. I used to watch Guiding Light. That got shut down 2 years ago.

It’s a fish… aka the “living fossil”. Thought to have gone extinct 80 million years ago, until they were found again.

Thanks, JT – love learning new things. Googled and can even pronounce (see-la-kanth) it now. Amazing fish. rediscovered in 1938.

Morning, gang!

Nice promo for X-Factor. We’ll check it out …although I can already foresee the focus on the back-story (read that ’sob-story’!) of the contestants. That’s one of the things that irritates me about AGT (another Simon show). They have a tendency to go way overboard with it at times, IMO.

And I’m sure y’all noticed all the X-Factor judges drinking from PEPSI cups!!

While I imagine Ryan might like to win an Emmy for AI (and he does deserve it more than Probst), I also imagine he can sit back and smile graciously all the while mentally comparing bank accounts with the ‘winner’! :D

Just read that Jordin Sparks will star in a remake of the 70’s movie Sparkle which is basically Dreamgirls-lite.

Morning, everybody.

Harriett’s really gonna owe me big time. Not only was I able to keep Maria from ruining her beach vacation… I was even able to downgrade her back to a (weak) tropical storm.

Not thrilled that it seems that they’re going to focus so much on the back-stories again… but it looks like it could be a fun show.

Personally, I’d have thrown XanderAlexander off the stage before he even sang the first note.
