Good for him, nice to see him working and hitting Atlanta. However, I think we need a more up to date photo because I think that is baby Jesus in the background.

I admit to liking Castro’s musical style. Right now, I’m just glad to be home after a week in the hospital. I’m 30-frickin’-six and was just laid up for a week thanks to a stomach bug. And I’m mad about it.

Just an aside here: Did y’all see those uniforms the Dawgs wore last night? Power Rangers? Satan’s jumpsuit? WTF? Even UGA die-hard fans can’t be happy with that “hot mess”.

1. The AJC’s method of reporting a comment is a huge hassle. The comment above me is clearly spam, but I’m not going to spend ten minutes explaining why, who I am, where I’ve been surfing, etc.

2. 70 million is a lot. I really could’ve died if I hadn’t gone to the ER (dumb Nutmeg waited four days of not keeping down water before finally going; I’d never been to an ER before).

3. I’ll be very glad when the new season starts.

Morning!

I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend despite our visit from Lee. Not complaining, we needed the rain, if not the tornadoes. Hope y’all survived Lee’s temper tantrums as well. It’s still pretty wet and drizzly here.

I wanted to address Ricksters comment a couple of stories ago about me.

“Dear Name (required): ANYone is allowed to express a “differing opinion in here.” We just don’t appreciate opinions which are rude, mean-spirited, insulting or add nothing to the conversation. Tim’s opinion pretty much fits all those.”

Please remeber your words next time you call Fantasia “Skanktasia” Talk about a hypocrite!!!!!!!

Deirdre

Tim, actually you can say anything you want but we don’t take kindly to attacks on other posters. The comment that we’re “cliquey” suggests that someone who used to be part of the “clique” and left of their own accord, is still angry about previous faults attributed to those who chose to remain. Believe me when I say, anyone who posts here more than twice is considered a regular and welcomed with open arms. And may I point out, Tim…that makes you a regular so allow me to welcome you!

The problems arise when someone holding a grudge doesn’t understand that the “regulars” disagree with each other all the time…and delight in those disagreements. The grudge holder sees anyone disagreeing as some form of anachy, so when he or she was disagreed with at some point he/she took his/her toys and went home.

We try not to indulge in koolaid on this blog. We disagree and (wonder of wonders) still like each other.

As for the Fantasia comments. It’s an Idol blog. The participants in the show are fair game.

“The participants in the show are fair game.”

Dierdre, I thought that to be true, and because of this, I would just laugh off the rude and nasty comments about Fantasia, whom I do like, not love. But when Rick said what he said, it kind of confused me, because I was under the impression that since kelly was an Idol participant, that would make her fairgame too, right? But it appears that only “certain” idols are fairgame, and if you speak ill about one that is a blog favorite, you are rebuked.

Deirdre

Tim, I agree with you. Kelly is also fair game. Here’s my point…while you have the right (on here at least) to say anything you want to say about ANY Idol, you can also be vehemently disagreed with.

For example: you may argue that Fantasia is the best Idol winner ever. That would give everyone here the opportunity to argue the opposite. And while Kelly may not be your favorite while she is the favorite of many people here, we have all, at one point or another, commented(in a negative way) on her weight, her hair and her makeup while still acknowledging that she has one of the best voices of all the winners. If you disagree, you have every right(in fact we’d encourage it) to argue back at us.

The difference is pretty clear, I think. While you presented your opinions of an Idol, “Name(required)…and apparently it isn’t actually a requirement….went after the posters on this blog. Rickster’s comment was directed more at the not so subtle digs presented in that post. While “Name(required)” defended you, he did it by trying to slam the other posters here rather than just agreeing with what you said.

That being said, we are all(contrary to popular opinion)human and we sometimes have knee-jerk reactions to a comment. About a year ago I got really frustrated and called someone a b*tch. TOTALLY against our policies! I later apologized because the comment was unfair, rude and nasty. It happens sometimes.

Looks like Harriett’s beach trip this weekend is pretty much safe from Katia. The main danger will be winds which might cause big waves – and increase the chance of rip-tides.

As long as she stays out of the water… she should be fine!

Rickster, you have my guarantee I will NOT be in the water while all this is going on, but I confess to loving to watch an angry sea. Love high waves, but from a distance, of course! Yes, Katia seems to be cooperating.

I’ve seen Bruce Springsteen in a European soccer stadium that had to undergo extensive repair after the audience’s dancing, stomping and swaing.
I’ve seen the Stones in a small (2,000) auditorium.
The Beatles came to my hometown in the early stages of their career. So early, people politely let them perform. No screaming or shouting was heard.
And I’ve seen Adam perform at the tabernacle in Atlanta!

I would have loved to see Buddy Holly and Otis Redding perform. Alas, they died so young, and with Buddy, I was so young, it couldn’t have happened. 4 times just wasn’t enough for the Beatles, but I guess I’m luckier than most. And some of you will poo-poo, but I once saw Bobby Vee in Florida while on vaca (the family we were with had a couple of teens, so we were allowed to attend a concert) and thought he was adorable, and I still like “Rubber Ball” and some other of his songs. More recently, I saw Marshall Crenshaw in a small club about 25 years ago – love him. “Some Day, Some Way” is one of my favorite songs ever.

“More recently” and “25 years ago” sounds strange! Guess, it’s more recent that many I’ve seen, ie Elton, Paul, Ringo, 4 Tops, Temptations, Diana Ross, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Chicago, 3 Dog Night, etc.

Kelly still is one of my favorite concerts, and the opening act was Jon McLaughlin, who was a doll and has some really great songs.

Sam-A

And that’s still strange. Guess I meant he’s a more “recent times” act than the others. I’d better quit while I’m still sane!
