Kristy Lee Cook hunts deer with… Bo Bice!

Kristy Lee Cook stars in a Vs. hunting show called "Goin' Country"

Kristy Lee Cook has definitely taken one of the oddest routes of “Idol” alums by hosting a hunting show “Goin’ Country” on Versus Channel. It’s been around for a year and MJ noticed she is still doing so. Blake Lewis has guested before. Now it’s Bo Bice’s turn to see if he can bag a deer!

It airs Sunday at noon. I have Bo’s cel number so I just called him. He answered!

“We filmed it awhile back,” Bice said today. “Kristy and I are friends. You know, the ‘Idol’ connection. I’m an avid hunter, fisherman and conservationist myself. She’s a really talented lady with a lot of hunting knowledge. I got to spend time with her parents. We had a good three or four days together.”

He says he knows some folks are not fans of hunting but said he’s there to “conserve the land for these animals so we can watch them grow. We provide sustenance to families. I got my first black-tailed deer there.”

Bice tries to go hunting at least once a year, be it quail, pheasant or duck. He will often go with his buddy Tommy Wilcox. “I love being in the woods,” he said. “How many mornings can you wake up and stand on top of a mountain looking across 40 to 50 miles of dew? You feel very small. Nobody is screaming at you. Nobody wants your autograph. Just you and God! That’s a pretty special feeling.”

“We stalked a bear while we were out there,” he added. “We had a lot of fun. I’ll probably go out with her again next year.”

Cook, Bice said, is tough. “If stuff is about to go down, I’d want her in my camp!”

Bice, in the meantime, is about to start his long-belated live “I Love the Road” project next month. Check his site www.bobice.com for updates.

Thanks Rodney. We love to hear from Bo around here. I’ll have to set the dvr for the show. Hubby is an avid hunter so this will probably be the one and only time we watch something Idol-related together. ;-)

I like the way hunters call themselves “conservationists” … when they really go out to kill Bambi!

Kristy Lee Cook is looking good in the cammies.

Thanks for the KLC thread Rodney. Nice to hear from Bo, and a also a brief blurb about Blake.

Hunters work more for conservation and the welfare of wildlife than all of PETA put together.

Finally got a chance to watch the video. Interesting.

PETA and Greenpeace have become a joke. They care less about animals and more about spreading anti corporate and anti government rhetoric. They are so insular and ignorant that they have taken an approach of attacking and destroying the very thing that allows real animal lovers to truly nurture and protect.

So I wonder how much Goin Country saved by having KLC sing her own theme song?

Entertainment Weekly has an interview with Kelly C. where she talks about songs that “inspire and stir her”. I like her sense of humor.

The song she never wants to perform again: “A Moment Like This” (2002). “Here’s the thing: I get it. It was a moment for whoever won (Idol), but that song wasn’t written for me. I loved singing it for the finale. That’s what it was for, but you’re not going to catch me singing that song anytime soon. Someone would have to be dying in front of me, saying,’My last wish is for you to sing that song’, for me to sing it.”

All infrastructure development and industry waste has killed more animals/insects/trees than the hunters ever did. In the animal kingdom food supply will ultimately cull the population. The way the fishing industry has overfished has reduced the small fry which in turn will reduce the adult fish will in time extinct the species in the ocean.

So it is not the hunter itself that is the main problem, it is the profit-seeking man that is the cause of animal extinction.

Great show. It is the American Heritage to see real people still enjoying what outdoors we still have. It is also refreshing to know that not all entertainers are liberal, hypocrites that complain about killing animals, owning guns, yet drive gas guzzling SUV’s, and buy store bought meat. (where animals are caged all their lives and fed presertives, and other crap for profit). It’s also great to see a young woman with such a variety of talent, personality, who is tuff and sweet with good ol fashion morals. An inspiration as well as a good example to our youth. Go shoot something Kristy.
