Now it’s Scotty McCreery’s ‘I Love You This Big’ video

Scotty McCreery’s video for his single “I Love You This Big” is out. The single is now a top 20 hit on the country charts but I don’t know if it has the momentum to reach the top 10.

This was clearly a low-budget quickie video. There is no story or anything terribly interesting going on. It’s basically Scotty setting up for a party, then singing at said party with fireworks in the background:

And two other bits that are floating around:

- New York Post says Steven Tyler is now clamoring for more bucks when he heard Jennifer Lopez is negotiating a $20 million deal, up from $12 million. Tyler is in the middle of a two-year deal.

- Adam Lambert leaves 19 Entertainment, according to Hollywood Reporter. He signs with Direct Management, which also manages k.d. Lang, Katy Perry and the Go Go’s, who I’m seeing tonight at Chastain.

Scotty’s voice sounds even better with studio enhancement. Nice video, good voice.

X factor is being sued….again. This time a father/son singing duo, father is 86 years old. X liked them enough to want to film extra footage of them and had them repeatedly walking through 96 degrees of Florida sun. The father was too exhausted to continue the audition after that.

Don’t see this going anywhere as the son could have put a stop to it at any time. Personal responsibility! Where has it gone?

Just heard a radio spot for MDA, done by Randy Jackson. Jerry is out, American Idol is in.

If ST wants that kind of money, he’s going to have to be able to critique with more than just “beautiful.”

At least Randy has multiple nonsensical words he throws out there and J-Lo has her “goosies.”

How can Scotty be singing to the music when the band is still setting up in the background?

Hey… wait a minute…. he couldn’t be…. no…. not Scotty…. he’s not… oh man… I can’t believe it. He’s lip syncing!

JT: Waaaaay back in the last thread (10 mins ago!), you called out Lauren for “her originality” in the song/video. I can tell you with full certainty that this 16 year old child did not write or pick the song, and most assuredly did not create the idea for the video (maybe had a tiny bit of input) – Idol has tons of people who do all that. So, don’t blame the child, blame the peeps behind her.

JTesla

Letting other peeps do the work = lack of originality.

Sam-A

The child is (barely) 16 years old. Just how original were you at that age?

JTesla

I wasn’t in the music business competing with the world, so I didn’t need to be original. And others didn’t bemoan my “modest” radio AirPlay, which is kind of key to the discussion. Of course I also wasnt competing with the memory if other 16 year olds who were successful and original in the country music business.

Why mediocre AirPlay Sam? Could a touch of originality help? Age no longer matters for her.

Well, I know this – my mama would never have let me, at 16, appear in public with that much cleavage… both videos look hastily assembled. The “story” in Lauren’s video is confusing – does she cry because she’s sentimental about mom, or because the prospect of being a lonely housewife? All the “scenes” take place in kitchen, a home and by a pool, with tons of kids milling around (no dad).

Mercedes S.

“or because the prospect of being a lonely housewife is so sad?”

As for Scotty’s video… he seems kinda diva-ish. Doesn’t carry as much as a hi-hat when the band is setting up, just lounging and lip-synching that grammatically incorrect title which creeps me out every time I hear it.

Is it just me, or does the “plot” of Scotty’s video sound a bit like the plot to the video of Rebecca Black’s “Friday”? >:)

I refuse to actually go watch it, as I don’t want to hear the song.

Classic Lauren Alaina: in interview leading up to premiere of her video on CMT she talks about being a “klutz” and how, when she was singing and sitting on the bannister of the house, there was a guy down below in the bushes in case she fell off! Guess he was going to cushion her fall or something. Gotta love it. :-)

LOL

I appreciate people agreeing with me, but I’m a bit confused. If you disagree with someone that means that they need to get a life? Why? Why can’t other people have opinions, without needing to get a life? When it boils down to it, Sam probably needs to get a life as much as I do, but the need to get a life has nothing to do with a person’s opinions.

Using that logic: Democrats and Republicans need to get a life.

While we are on the topic, what the hell does “get a life” even mean??? I mean really, does it mean that I have to do some naked bungee jumping, does that somehow factor into the measurement of life. And who is measuring life? Unless you are willing to spill the beans about the great life you somehow went out and got, then spare us. Because I’m quite content with the life I got, so I don’t need people telling me to go out and get another.

All of you need a hobby, or a life. AI isn’t even in season and you losers stay on this board. Talk about rabid fans, you are it…. Don’t you all have jobs, friends, something to occupy your time?? “My take”: Sure feel sorry for your family. What a dried prune you seem to be. Have ya noticed, we have a lot to “talk” about other than Idol. We have a movie reviewer who clues us in of what’s good/not, a gal who just auditioned for “Voice”, we watch and discuss lots of other tv shows – in general we enjoy each other’s “company” and the conversations, which can sometimes get heated, but we still respect each other. You on the other hand, must be a “real important person”, with such a high and mighty opinion of yourself.

Good morning!

Re: AGT–I totally agree, Deirdre. What a lot last night! YouTube let them down this year. Also, notice the Jackie Evancho pimping at every turn last night. I don’t blame them for taking credit for her discovery, but they are going to be hard-put to find another one. And, poor Michael Grimm. Nary a mention. To me, that points out a great back story will get more votes than great talent on that show. Even though I did and do not care for little Miss Jackie, she had more talent.

G

Yeah, AGT was kind of a bummer. I think the dancing girl from Ala. was pretty unique. She had a kind of “quirky” thing going on, but it was like an accent throughout her performance. hmmmm….Gabe the dog routine was funny for the night, but not worthy of Vegas. The high school dance troop was clean, but I’ve seen better and worse, so blah to them. No one else really stood out to me.

Good Morning!

Opening today, one of my fave films this year, “The Help”. Please don’t judge it by the stupid preview, this is not a “laughfest” but a deeply satisfying drama about a time not so long ago where unspeakable wrongs were righted by brave people. Amazing performances by a bunch of very talented actresses, Viola Davis, Emma Stone, and Bryce Dallas Howard among them. Go see!

Not that there’s anything wrong with being a cat person.

Rickster

August 10th, 2011
10:24 am

But if you don’t have cats…. there’s no chance of becoming one of those folks you hear about with 100s of cats in the house with cat feces all over the place who never go out of the house and who are only found out because neighbors call the police because a foul smell coming from the house,

Rickster

I was even written into our wedding vows, “for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live… or unless Rickster becomes one of those people with 100s of cats in the house with cat feces all over the place who never go out of the house and who are only found out because neighbors call the police because a foul smell coming from the house,”

Deirdre

I happen to love cats and dogs…I guess that has something to do with why I tend to be argumentative. We have no cats at the moment because I am definitely not a litter box fan. If they can’t go outdoors, we can’t have them. When we eventually move to the ranch, we’ll have cats to keep down the rodent population.

Branch Loveless

Mercedes, The Help was my favorite book of the year. I am anxiously looking to the day I can go and see the film. I just hope they do not alter Stockett’s masterpiece too much in the movie.
