Promoter alleges Bucky Covington stole $1,500

I find this one hard to belief but there is a police report and TMZ dutifully reported that Bucky Convington allegedly stole $1,500 from a promoter earlier this month. (No, it was no Wild Bill’s, where he performed July 1.)

Bucky — who placed 8th on “Idol” back in 2006 — was set to perform at the Iron Horse Saloon in Ormond Beach, Florida on June 30 as part of a July 4 NASCAR race week celebration … when the promoter suffered chest pains and was rushed to a nearby hospital. With the promoter out of the picture, Bucky allegedly saw an opportunity to raid the cash box — and instructed his brother and his brother’s wife to pull off a snatch and grab.

True. Not true? We’ll find out soon enough.

Bucky? The guy’s name is Bucky? He was probably stealing money so he could afford a name change. Yeesh.

Someone signing himself Name (required) is hardly in a position to belittle a fella named Bucky.

I was at this show. The promoter did a lousy job publicizing the Thursday night show by failing to get either of the country stations near Daytona involved but instead promoted through a beach station. The crowd was 1/10 of what was expected and prior to performing, Bucky was told he was not going to get paid. He performed anyway for the small but enthusiastic crowd that was there. The security guards left before Bucky came on because they found out they were not getting paid. The girls selling t-shirts closed up shop because they were not getting paid. There were 6 bands there and none of them got paid for performing. A witness saw the promoter grab a wad of cash out of the cash box before his allege chest pains. The guy did not have the finances or sponsors to pay all the people he had at the event and left without paying anyone with the cash he took. All 6 band did great sets and no way would Bucky steal anything from anybody. He was probably told the promoter would try to get him gas money (It’s more than 1500 to pay the band and gas from Nashville.) Another witness said on about 20 people came in after the promoter took the cash out so max $400 was there. I am guessing Bucky’s manager asked for the rest of the money the promoter owed him under the contract and these phoney charges were to extort money from Bucky and so promoter did not have to pay him .

“Bucky was told he was not going to get paid”

Then you aren’t entitled to the money, even if it is for gas money. Also, it sounds like you know a little more about this event than you are letting on, thanks for stopping by Bucky or Rocky.

So the promoter took the money? Have you told all this to the police? Or is this just a bunch of bull doodoo?

The promoter stiffed the bands and event staff and then had “chest pains”, scribbles his name out of the police report and sends it to TMZ. This screams scam if I ever heard one. I know how much my pickup tank costs to fill, I hate to think what the bands all paid to get there, especially the ones with tour buses. Promoters try to screw musicians all the time. Oldest trick in the book.

I have had Bucky twice now and these are not the type of people to steal. They were honest and fair. I for one have no problem booking them. If they did take the money good for them! I would be pissed if I didn’t get my 7k either!!

If people are wondering why his name is Bucky because he picked to be called that his real name his William Joel Covington lll his twin brother real name his Robert David Covington Aka Rocky. And I don’t believe Bucky stole the money i think the guy that went to the hospital did before he left and just pined it on Bucky and his twin Rocky.
