Carrie Underwood co-hosting CMAs with Brad Paisley for fourth time

paisleyunderwoodThe CMAs sure love Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. The two affable country performers will host the show a fourth time. The show isn’t even set to air until November on CBS so the pair have plenty of time to prepare.

Using a really old reference, they have become the Gracie Allen and George Burns of this generation.  They have a chemistry and camaraderie that solidified them as two of the most popular country artists of our generation.

Carrie’s current duet with him “Remind Me’ is now at No. 12 on the country chart and is still steadily climbing.

- Jordin Sparks will sing the National Anthem tonight for the MLB All Star Game in Phoenix.

In other chart news:

- Kelly Clarkson has a new single “Let Me Down.” It looks like yet another hit for her. Her duet with Jason Aldean “Don’t You Wanna Stay” was a No. 1 on country and is now a top 10 hit on the Hot AC chart.

- Scotty McCreery’s “I Love You This Big” is now at No. 17 on the country chart. Kellie  Pickler’s “Tough” is at No. 50.

- Jennifer Hudson’s “No One Gonna Love You” is at No. 31 on the urban chart but is kind of stuck in that vicinity.

- Mandisa’s former No. 1 song “Stronger” is still at No. 5 on the Christian chart in its 25th week. Chris Sligh’s “One,” which peaked at No. 20, is now at No. 22 after 14 weeks on the chart.

- Pia Toscano’s “This Time” is set to be released later this week.

Thanks for the post Rodney. But I was hoping for a Carrie-only pic!

Well, there sure is a lot of “shiny” in that pic…and I don’t mean that award in Brad’s hand.

They’re both super popular and the CMA’s gives them the perfect platform for a live performance of Remind Me.

As far as Kelly, Let me Down is an accidental single, AFAIK. There’s been a few other songs of hers that leaked a few days after Let Me Down. After taking count, she’s had 23 songs leaked in a year. That is insane. I

Ryan played Pia’s song on his show…it sounds very “coronation song” or something Jordin would record.

I likey “shiny”…and some shiny, happy people. Yah.

Sounds like Kelly has sprung a leak. Methinks someone needs to plug it. ;-)

Just out running errands and nearly passed out before I got inside. It is waaaay too hot!

The CMA’s obviously know what they’re doing. Brad and Carrie are two charming and attractive people who do an excellent job hosting.

I agree, Deirdre, but I still would rather have this heat than any day in February!! Call me crazy.

Looking at their picture above…anybody ever “swung” in one of those old porch swings?

It’s more of a “glider” than a swing. But yes, I’ve ridden in one.

RoHo: Love the “George & Gracie” reference. When I was a little girl, I loved their show. Later, George was a whole lotta meh, but when Gracie was around, it was very funny.

Wish Kellys album would come out. And Harriett, gotta go with Rickster – you have to be a little bit nutty to want to live in this total Hellish steambath. My car registered 101° yesterday afternoon, and didn’t really cool off much with full air blowing in hte 15 mins from my office to the house! Give me 30° any old day.

Wait, that’s an euphemism right?

Hot? 61 degrees F. and overcast here… I should just pull up my tomatoes now and be done with it.

Every year around mid-February, when windshields are still coated with ice and heavy coats and scarves are the order of the day, I make a solemn vow not to complain even ONE time about the heat. And, I keep that vow–no matter how hot it gets. I just cannot stand the cold weather. And, yep, Rickster, guess I am–crazy, that is. :)

Having a little thunderstorm here at the moment which has cooled us all the way down to 91. The steam is rising off the road heavier than the rain is falling.

I love February weather in Atlanta. Hate weather in July/August. Thunder and lighting just started, so I’m ready for the wind, falling trees and power outages.

Sam-A – from previous thread – fellow Blytonist!! I liked the Five even better than the Adventure kids,.
Can I remember their names?? Julian, Dick, Anne and George vs Philip, Jack, Lucy and…?? Best kid lit until Harry Potter.

Don’t know The Five, but loved the Adventure books, and it’s Philip, Dinah, Jack and Lucy, and of course, Philip’s everpresent hedgehog in his pocket. Would love to get my hands on some of the original Brit versions, not these updated US type versions – no charm there! Would also love to get a couple of the Potter books in the UK versions.

I know, I know, I am distinctly in the minority. I just hate cold weather to pieces!! I hate barren trees and gray days and seeing my breath every time I speak. And, I hate no birds in my back yard and windows closed tightly against the cold and wind. I hate the coming of frost and having to see summer flowers go away. I hate ice storms and, mostly I hate the deep, dark days of winter. Brrrr.

I love early mornings, arising with my window open, hearing the birds sing and the paper being delivered. I love the first blush of spring in the air and the daffodils peeking through. I love not having to wear a coat or sleep under a pile of blankets and smelling honeysuckle and seeing lightening bugs in my back yard in the twilight. I love the swimming pools being open and the endless summer sand and water of the beaches and being out in the sun and then shading myself.

And, most of all, I love the summer vegetables and looking out my kitchen window and seeing red, ripe tomatoes hanging on my vines!

Sam-A, good friends in England and Canada sent me the Brit versions of the Blyton and Richmal Crompton books (about “William”). My kids loved them so it was worth every penny.

@Harriett–what a lovely description. I’m totally with you in your early morning delight, until I actually experience it when I open the door. Then my first reaction isn’t “what a lovely honeysuckle smell!” or “How delightful–the birds!” It’s “WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE THIS SUFFERING?!” And yes, I’m shouting.

Sigh. On the other hand, I love the crunch of snow, the bite in the air, and long sleeves. As soon as I graduate (should be *one* more year… knock on my wooden head), the husband and I are going to try to head northwest. I’m hoping to get hired at some little college in Washington or Oregon!

@Mercedes, When the weather gets hot, there’s only so much one can take off. I could be wearing absolutely nothing, and it’s still too hot and sticky for me here in the summer. And autumn. And most of spring. And the occasional day in winter.

@JTesla, where are you? 61 degrees? Jealous.

Come out to the coast (the west coast) have a good time. I’m in Portland.

I have to side with the cool weather folks. I get tired of the cold after a while, but it takes four months of cold before I tire of it yet it only takes one week of hot until I’m over it.

My son keeps telling me about the 75 degree weather in Santa Clara. What with that and Lucas, it’s all I can do not to move in with them. Nutmeg, I hope when you move west, you become another member of the west coast division of the blog. JT is the only one left. We used to have a valley girl and someone from Washington but they have disappeared(although the valley girl moved to one of the Carolinas, I think)

I’m a Spring and Fall person myself. Not fond of cold or hot…more a cool and warm type.
