‘The Voice’ starts tour in July competing with ‘Idols Live,’ which is sold out at Gwinnett

NBC’s ‘The Voice’ will be touring starting in July, according to tweets from Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. Details are forthcoming. “Idols” live tour starts next week, too. Reportedly, the top eight will be on the road, so former “Idol” Frenchie Davis will get some stage time.

The Gwinnett Arena date for “Idols Live” July 26 is long sold out.  Last year, the show had what I think were its lowest attendance numbers ever in Atlanta, barely filling two-thirds of the arena. Most years, the show has sold out (and yes, I’ve been to every single one except the second “Idols Live” date season five, the only year the show came twice.)

- “Platinum Hit” last night featured songs about love, arguably the most common theme in music. Jes, the former “Idol” contestant, found herself in the bottom two but her singing partner Melissa from Hawaii was clearly the least inspiring of the remaining eight songwriters. She contributed virtually nothing to the song and has not won a single challenge to date. She also fought back (needlessly) against Kara DioGuardi’s criticism and acted like she didn’t deserve to go home, when in fact, she did. She had no argument why she should stick around and showed no gratefulness. Scotty has won four challenges in a row. Nick continues to be a jerk. Sonjae won immunity. I’m enjoying the show although it’s not doing particularly well in the ratings. The last numbers I had from June 13 showed just 679,000 viewers, far fewer than even the “Fashion Show,” the show’s attempt at replacing “Project Runway.”

I am happy for the contestants, and am glad Frenchie is getting some stage time, but seriously? The Voice? Just do not care and will be glad when it is over. I am looking forward to the Vegas shows with AGT.

Doesn’t Javier’s head look too small for his body in that picture?

Our household (former Idol watchers btw) has enjoyed The Voice very much and glad they are assured of another season. We’re all rooting for either Bev or Vicci but, since it’s probably a mostly female voting audience, are guessing either Javier or Dia will win. We’re mostly okay with any of the final four, but think Javier is very generic and has already had a couple of good chances in the business. We prefer someone else to get a shot at making it.

I have enjoyed “The Voice” and I am looking forward to season 2. Part of the appeal for me has been the differences from “Idol”; however I still love “Idol” and will be right there watching in January. Just wanted to point out that it is okay to like both shows. I like several flavors of ice cream, as well!

Now some shows like “AGT” and “SYTYCD”, I don’t care about at all. However, others do and that’s fine. I’m not gonna wish them gone or over just because I don’t watch them. That’s just how I roll, sparky. ;-)

As for the pic of Javier: maybe that illustrates that success hasn’t yet gone to his head??? (corny, I know)

I’m looking forward to the end of the season. I haven’t been grabbed by this show in the way Idol did. Guess I’m loyal to a fault. That said, the final four are pretty talented. My ranking goes: Vicci, Dia, Beverly, Javier.

Boy, JT and/or Rickster would have a FIELD DAY with Mercedes’ comment.

While I have a rare second to myself, I needed to say Hi! to everyone!

My new granddaughter is due the Fourth of July, she may arrive before that!

My husband received an amazing deer antler pen for Father’s Day made by our own WOODPAPPY!

I’m keeping up with all the shows as well the blog, lurking!

Greetings, Harm. Early congrats on your granddaughter; hope everything goes well.

BTW, sources tell me that Woodpappy’s elves made that pen. You know, like Santa’s elves do a lot of the work for him! ;-)

Uhoh, don’t piz off Wolverine!

In other news, some friends of mine ran into Kevin Bacon, the liquid cop from Terminator 2, and Sam’s brother Tommy from True Blood in downtown LaGrange last night. The posted some pics with them on facebook. I thought that was pretty neat for the little ol’ town of LaGrange. Apparently they are filming down here.

Seems strange the way they bunched up the season. Not enough time to grow attached to the contestants. I’m watching, but not caring as much as I thought I would. It requires more time to get to know the talent to become emotionally invested.

Hey, I was only speaking for myself when I said I would be glad when it is over. I prefaced that by saying I was happy for the contestants. But, like KCF, the show has never grabbed me and I was just stating a preference. Do not want to spoil anyone’s else’s pleasure in it at all. Enough about that. Just to put a larger distance between us, Branch, I do love AGT and SYTYCD. ;)

I’m going to co-sign with Branch’s comment above, that it’s totally possible to like both Idol and The Voice. I admit to liking The Voice a bit better, but it doesn’t have to be one or the other. Both shows have more basic elements that are in common, than differences.

It’s refreshing to see a final, in which it really doesn’t matter who wins. They’re all talented in their own way. The Voice’ final 8 was a strong group overall. Maybe it’s glaring to me because the final 10 for AI this year mediocre at best. AI’ final 10 have been much stronger in the past.

In recent years, AI has really gotten polarizing, which is something that has begun to turn me off a bit.

Our household has enjoyed The Voice as well. The talent seems to be a bit higher caliber than AI, and the competition a lot more equal. I also strongly approve of the way they’re handling the voting process. Just watch the final ‘performance’ show and honestly either one of the four could win this one. Each one is unique and all very talented. Can’t say I’ve really caught on to Blake’s fascination with Dia, but the rest of the viewing audience seems to ‘get it’ so I guess there’s something I’m missing. Same with Javier. I really thought both Casey and Jeff were better. Thought it was kind of wrong of Adam to give Javier that extra little push just because he’d been “trying for so long to get a break…” Maybe the reason he still hasn’t ‘made it’ is …well maybe he’s not the best. Who know though? He could end up winning.
Either way I’ve enjoyed The Voice so much more than AI. Next year we’ll be skipping AI and going with The Voice.
As for AGT, seriously 95% of the people on that show are horrible and just flat out nuts. Very little entertainment value.

voice was terrible what crap of talent they had on that show. It was really a joke that they had to give a recording contract out to any of them..
