My Suggestion for interesting duets:
Scotty and Hayley
Lauren and Casey
James and Jacob
April 27th, 20116:24 pm
Jubie… I like those suggestions.
April 27th, 20117:08 pm
Hope I can join everybody tonight on the live chat… several power outages, messed up cable and computer…grateful the A/C is working!
April 27th, 20117:53 pm
Looking forward to the duets although I’m a little worried about Jacob. He hasn’t been good at harmonizing in any of the other group sings.
April 27th, 20118:05 pm
Jacob looks “interesting” this evening.
April 27th, 20118:07 pm
So did I see Haley and Casey as duet partners?
Jacob first….he doesn’t know if he can do it anymore. Jimmy basically says tough sh*t!
April 27th, 20118:11 pm
Well…I actually thought that was pretty good from Jacob. I don’t like the tone of his voice but it wasn’t a bad performance.
April 27th, 20118:12 pm
What is Janice errrr Jacob wearing?
April 27th, 20118:18 pm
Miley gives Lauren advice. hmmmmmmm.
April 27th, 20118:19 pm
Perfect song choice for Lauren and she’s doing a great job.
April 27th, 20118:27 pm
Lonely here in Old Timey Land
But when I peek in at New and Superfast Land the comments are either negative or they’re talking about something else while someone is singing. How can you decide if something is good or bad without listening to it? I guess I’m older than I think.
Lauren looks beautiful tonight, safe song. score = 7 1/2. Jacob got a 6 3/4.
April 27th, 20118:29 pm
I justs got caught up but my computer is dragging a$$ tonight. I thought Lauren’s song was a bit safe, but she did a good job. I liked Jacob’s song and the way he sang it.
April 27th, 20118:30 pm
The dynamic duo? Hey, D!
April 27th, 20118:32 pm
Duet…Earth Move…Casey and Haley are really good together!!!! Haley started off a little off and Casey ended a little off but the performance was really great!
April 27th, 20118:34 pm
Harriett…thank goodness you’re here…I was starting to feel like I ‘m talking to myself….well…I WAS talking to myself but….anyway YAY!
I like Haley more and more every time I see her. Good duet with Casey, she is clearly the better singer/growler of the 2.
April 27th, 20118:35 pm
Totally agree, Deirdre! Superb and very entertaining!
April 27th, 20118:36 pm
Seth..you, too!!!!!! I mean thanks!
I haven’t really been here the last couple of weeks because of a houseful of company so I’m happy to see Idol blogsters!
April 27th, 20118:37 pm
And Seth, I agree about Haley…she’s one contestant that we have had the opportunity to see grow and improve.
April 27th, 20118:39 pm
Scotty is singing You’ve Got a Friend
April 27th, 20118:40 pm
He’s singing country-style but he hasn’t countrified the song
April 27th, 20118:41 pm
I like this voice much better than the Scotty voice
April 27th, 20118:42 pm
I hope this show gets over before we all have tornadoes bearing down on us…..to any of you in North GA…please don’t take chances!
I liked Randy’s critique…Scotty was very good.
April 27th, 20118:45 pm
Scotty finally followed advice and it showed.
April 27th, 20118:46 pm
Scotty did a very,very good rendition of “you’ve got a friend” A clear score of 8 1/4!
April 27th, 20118:48 pm
Scotty was the best so far..
April 27th, 20118:49 pm
Seth, I wanted to say hi to you as well. I really think Scotty did very well for him, but I don’t think I would score him that high. IMO.
April 27th, 20118:50 pm
Man….Scotty did OK but he isn’t in the same league as some of the others
We’re not getting the interviews and the time with Jimmy because of tornado warnings. Don’t know what James is singing yet.
April 27th, 20118:51 pm
This should be interesting.
Can we watch this online????
Still nor hearing James
April 27th, 20118:53 pm
Nope..not going to get to hear James at all…we’ll have to youtube him later
Heard James’ last note…what did he sing?
April 27th, 20118:54 pm
Weather interrupts keep us from seeing any of James until the last two notes.
Can someone tell Ken Cook that a simple, quick statement and then writing on the screen might be effective?
April 27th, 20118:55 pm
Wish I’d heard James
April 27th, 20118:57 pm
So should we vote for James based on the last 2 notes…which were very good
April 27th, 20118:58 pm
Sounds like we missed the performance of the season!! Can’t they put weather alerts on the bottom of the screen.
Does anyone out there know what James sang???????????
April 27th, 20118:59 pm
Oh, Deirdre, this was just fabulous. James sang Will You STill Love Me Tomorrow and it brought me to tears. Best rendition I have ever heard besides the original. He actually reminded me of Cookie with his guitar and the delivery.
April 27th, 20119:01 pm
Thanks Harriett. I’ll vote for him based on your recommendation…he’s one of my favorites anyway.
April 27th, 20119:02 pm
We have a group of people here watching the show on our “Idol Watch Night” While James has not been one of my personal favorites, I have to admit that he did a stellar job with the song, had a reasonable look tonight, no mohawks, and surprised me with his performance. 8 1/2 consensus score!!! .
THe people the were warning about the weather either don’t have power or satellite. My satellite goes out way before any bad weather hits!!!!!!
Lauren and Scotty are dueting AGAIN……does Idol have no imagination?
Up On the Roof
Maybe I'm Hearing Things
April 27th, 20119:03 pm
Good grief Ken Cook! Anybody in danger is in their closet or basement and listening to the RADIO – not watching you tell us over and over and over where the tornado is. Make it quick and get off the air.
Good decision, D. Fabulous doesn’t describe it, really. SCotty and Lauren duet up next. Singing Up On the Roof
Lauren is good…Scotty is pitchy
April 27th, 20119:04 pm
THIS we get to see and we miss James???????????
This duet between Scotty and Lauren is very badly out of tune.
April 27th, 20119:06 pm
I guess everybody is screwing everyone now…Typical reality show. They need to issue these kids condoms like Philly does to 2nd graders.
Does someone put AI performances on youtube right after the show? I’d like to see James sing his song.
Duet not good. D, you will get to see the playback of James at the end. I am still feeling the afterglow of that performance.
April 27th, 20119:07 pm
Seth…where are you? Nobody in the Atlanta area got to hear James sing.
April 27th, 20119:08 pm
Frustrated! Ken cook needs to get to the point and get off the screen!
April 27th, 20119:09 pm
James is my favorite and I am really upset that they interrupted it!!! Does anyone know how to see it? I wonder if it will effect his vote.
I was right dead-center of a tornado many years ago, and have learned to take all precautions now.
Scotty & Lauren’s duet shows a much better range and clarity for Lauren – probably help her more than Scotty in the final voting.
April 27th, 20119:12 pm
Hi dee Hi from Casey…unique and interesting as always…and really, really good!
April 27th, 20119:13 pm
You guys aren’t missing anything…I am in Chicago on business. Casey sung some song I have never heard.
April 27th, 20119:15 pm
We saw Casey…so far James is the only one we haven’t seen
That was a Blood, Sweat and Tears song and it brought back memories.
April 27th, 20119:16 pm
Cat, James was so great tonight that I cannot see Atlanta votes or non-votes affecting him at all. I am so sorry y’all missed it. I am in Columbia, SC and we will be getting the weather around 7 in the morning. Just in time for rush hour.
I had not made up my mind until tonight, but I am for James all the way now. Can anyone tell I was impressed?
April 27th, 20119:18 pm
James is the only one that they totally did not show. That is not right!!!!!
James was great, you missed a great performance
Casey’s style is one that is somewhat “polarizing” among our group here. Most of us liked and enjoyed it, some thought it was too much grunting and tomfoolery. Score = 7
April 27th, 20119:21 pm
Casey might have been OK if had sung ANYTHING. He talk-growled his way through a song that was boring in its best rendition. Lame in my estimation. Bring on Haley.
Seth, Casey is great, but he is a niche performer.
Thanks Harriett. Stay safe
The Guru Of Good Times
April 27th, 20119:22 pm
If anyone finds James’ performance posted tonite on Youtube or elsewhere…please post the link. I get it Ken, the weather’s bad…but you should’ve wrapped it up before the performance.
I wish Haley would have sung Smackwater Jack. This song is not gonna help her too much.
April 27th, 20119:23 pm
Apparently James and Jacob are going to finish it for us.
I liked Haley better with Casey…this was just ok for me
April 27th, 20119:25 pm
Hailey was bad… pack your bags. If this was “the voice” every judge would turn around with every performer. I really miss Simon.
Will someone PLEASE tell JLo that Randy is allowed to be negative about a performance!
April 27th, 20119:26 pm
Hayley has really grown on me I think she is better than Lauren. Great performance !!
April 27th, 20119:27 pm
Love James with this song! Jacob wasn’t bad either!
April 27th, 20119:28 pm
Fox5 is really bad tonight…just give the weather update and stop the excessive chatter. Notice the updates are only during the show and not during a commercial.
I liked that duet between James and Jacob more than I thought I would.
April 27th, 20119:30 pm
I thought tonight’s show was excellent and I will be hard pressed to pick an order preference. I’ll post as soon as I can find James’ performance on line…which may not be until tomorrow.
James has so much fun and his obvious love of song is so infectious that he brings happy tears every time he sings. He is 10 times more natural and as enjoyable as Adam Lambert and any comparisons beyond that are nonsense. Put-on theater VS natural ebullience. No contest.
April 27th, 20119:35 pm
Haley could have picked a better song from that catalog, but Idol usually only shows about 20 to pick from. She did a great job with it though, was the hottest looking in that dress, had the most fun.
Score = 9!!
April 27th, 20119:38 pm
1 James ( eventhough I didn’t see the whole pereformance I saw recap. Thanks Ken cook).
In no way did James’ playback of dress rehearsal even touch his live performance. And, Pedro, why do we have to compare? Isn’t there room for everyone? James is his own person, and so is Adam.
April 27th, 20119:41 pm
Fox5 put the link to James performance on Facebook so I know it is on YouTube. He was awesome. He has my vote all the way
April 27th, 20119:42 pm
Thanks Brenda…heading there now.
April 27th, 20119:43 pm
James Durbin : Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow – Carole King : American Idol Top 6
April 27th, 20119:45 pm
Here’s the link to James’ performance:
April 27th, 20119:48 pm
So, D, what do you think?
April 27th, 20119:49 pm
James sang *Will you love me tomorrow* Gr8 job. My vote is for James!!
April 27th, 20119:50 pm
OMG!!!!!! That was fantastic!!!!!!!
1. James…by a mile!!!
April 27th, 20119:52 pm
Deidre – I agree it was a very good show tonight, and everyone did well for their fans.
Harriett – Personally, I like Casey’s niche as I played in a band for many years, currently do recordings with some of our local artists in the area and enjoy doing blues, Old-time Jazz, R&B Pop. We do a lot of Country Music and classic rock as well, so I am not against any specific genre.
We have a group of people watching the show together, over a wide age-span, so it’s interresting to get a group score after each performance. Haley got the highest tonight, even though there are a couple people in the group that didn’t score her very high at all. As we learned from the past, that doesn’t mean she will even be safe this week.
April 27th, 20119:53 pm
1. James – even though I only heard the recap
2. Scotty – thought his performance of “You’ve Got A Friend” was really good with the softer touch to his voice
3. Lauren – hought that was a good choice and she did it well
4. Haley – liked the middle to end better than the beginning
6. Jacob – no comment except that I think it’s time for him to leave
1. Haley & Casey
2. James & Jacob
3. Lauren & Scotty
5. Casey – Hidey Ho was good with the jazzy New Orleans sound
I am glad you thought so too, D. Talk tomorrow. Linny and I have been on text since she can’t use her oomputer. She said she is going to look it up tomorrow. She was like the rest of Atlanta–did not know what he sang. Nighty night! Voting for James!
April 27th, 20119:59 pm
Here’s your chance — if you were personally going to pick one contestant to go home, right now, who would it be?
April 27th, 201110:00 pm
Just saw James’s performance and all I can say is WOW and double WOW!!!!!!!!!!
April 27th, 201110:11 pm
IMO James Durbin gave the best performance of the entire season tonight.
Jacob can go home now.
April 27th, 201110:17 pm
It’s still 80 degrees at 10:15 pm. It’s just possible that Glenn Burns means it this time.
April 27th, 201110:18 pm
I called fox5 a link to james’ performance is on their website. Everyone stay safe
