If you want to live blog tonight with me, use this function below. If not, just post comments.
‘American Idol’ top 11 (redux) performance show live blogging
March 30th, 20116:46 pm
Hopefully it is a good night, big catalog to choose from.
March 30th, 20116:52 pm
And I can see show live after all!
March 30th, 20116:58 pm
I think I’ll just stay in the ol’ slow, need to refresh, blog tonight. The coveritlive is too distracting for me. I pay more attention to it than I do the singers. Apparently my brain no longer functions on as high a level as it used to function.
March 30th, 20117:17 pm
D. I think I might join you. We may have the same problem. Coveritlive is great when I can’t get to a TV, not so great when I can watch live.
March 30th, 20117:18 pm
I’ll look forward to the company, Ben.
March 30th, 20117:47 pm
Anyone here plan to watch the “musical” Grey’s Anatomy tomorrow night? Might bring me back for the first time in ages.
March 30th, 20117:48 pm
I still enjoy Grey’s. This year has been lively and interesting. I’ll watch the musical episode as soon as I get back from San Jose.
March 30th, 20118:03 pm
Steven isn’t wearing sequins tonight…maybe he isn’t feeling well
March 30th, 20118:07 pm
I am here again, too, D
March 30th, 20118:11 pm
Scotty picked the best possible EJ song for himself…and again, he does a nice job…the “love you, grandma” won’t hurt him either.
March 30th, 20118:12 pm
March 30th, 20118:14 pm
That’s the song I figured he’d have to do, if anything.
Uh oh…the last time someone tried to put a reggae twist on a song, he almost got laughed off the stage.
Scotty’s song could be on 105.7 tomorrow…..that good
March 30th, 20118:16 pm
Agree, Ben, hefits right in with the country crowd…the Grand Old Opry will open its arms to him
anyone know the order and songs for tonight?
March 30th, 20118:18 pm
JD…song spoilers are no longer available due to Nigel closing the dress rehearsals
March 30th, 20118:19 pm
thanks, Naima and reggae wow!
March 30th, 20118:20 pm
She will get criticized for this, but I like it.
March 30th, 20118:22 pm
I kinda liked Naima tonight. Her voice won’t take her any farther than the chorus of a Broadway show but that wasn’t too bad. The raggae wasn’t all that good
I’m huge roots reggae fan and she KILLED it. That will be a huge hit in Jamacia
But she will probably will be going home
March 30th, 20118:23 pm
The I Three, Ben? I kept thinking that. I actually loved this performance for Naima.
March 30th, 20118:27 pm
Well she is no Judy Mowatt, but it was good.
I agree that she did a good job…not sure the raggae is going to work with this audience, unfortunately
March 30th, 20118:28 pm
Naima sounded out of breath to me, which made some of her voice shallow. She also made up the Jamacan accent, which I thought was odd. Her performance stage presents was great as usual, though
March 30th, 20118:29 pm
Paul and Rocket Man…omg!
March 30th, 20118:30 pm
betty, I think Naima’s voice isn’t very strong no matter what she sings
March 30th, 20118:31 pm
I like Paul but this is awful
March 30th, 20118:32 pm
Paul= OK until the refrain. Better than last week
March 30th, 20118:33 pm
Well, it wasn’t awful. I don’t like his voice. I get what he’s trying to do…I get the style he’s trying to evoke…I just don’t get him
March 30th, 20118:36 pm
D. you nailed it.
I did not like any of it. And, as I said, I like Paul. Wish he had done something else. But, here comes Pia. Not a fast song, but…
Oh…another ballad from Pia zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
March 30th, 20118:37 pm
I wish I was in Jamaica but we aren’t. Sorry Naima. Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay! AHHH YEAH MON. NO PROBLEM!
Pia is not letting the sun go down on her ….ballad! She’s promising to sing an uptempo next week…again
March 30th, 20118:39 pm
I think I may have just joined the Pia train. IMO, that’s the best she’s done so far
Maybe it was the mix, but I thought she was oversinging it
March 30th, 20118:46 pm
I guess they have the schedule for the year. How would she know she is doing “River deep, Mountain High?
March 30th, 20118:47 pm
Before tonight, Pia left me kinda cold. She sang nicely but there was no emotion…except the acted kind. Tonight she seemed to get the song.
March 30th, 20118:48 pm
excellent or a train wreck
March 30th, 20118:50 pm
Stefano has been so hit and miss…..tonight was actually pretty good.

I liked that
March 30th, 20118:52 pm
He’s trying hard and did well. But the song just didn’t fit the tone of his voice. The coaches were right, the song was written for Elton
March 30th, 20118:56 pm
Lauren…biggest song ever on the top 100? Candle in the Wind?
March 30th, 20118:59 pm
March 30th, 20119:00 pm
March 30th, 20119:01 pm
Do not like this at all. She is just singing–not feeling it. The coy look at the camera did not help
March 30th, 20119:02 pm
Best of the night, so far
March 30th, 20119:03 pm
I thought she did a lovely job with the song. Her diction is crappy but her voice was very nice and I liked the performance
March 30th, 20119:04 pm
I love her voice, but did not like her interpretation of the song.
March 30th, 20119:05 pm
Elton would have liked it.
March 30th, 20119:06 pm
She needs to learn to control the little yip she gets on the end of her long notes. But she’ll learn.
March 30th, 20119:08 pm
So far, I’d send Paul home…everyone else has been good to excellent.
March 30th, 20119:09 pm
James, Saturday Night’s Alright. Gonna be wild!
March 30th, 20119:11 pm
I told Mrs. Lurkin it would be either Saturday or Levon
March 30th, 20119:12 pm
James was just flat out terrific!
Great until the scream
March 30th, 20119:14 pm
The thing I like about James…you never worry…you know he’s got the voice, you know he’ll hit the notes. He’s fun..and a little crazy
March 30th, 20119:15 pm
Loved it, scream and all. Very, very good. He has seasoned soooo much and is the most comfortable of all of them on the stage.
LOL….Pepsi Moment! That was pretty funny, especially when Ryan reminded him Coke is a sponsor!
Absolutely nothing wrong with the scream…perfectly pitched and suited the song.
March 30th, 20119:16 pm
Well..the Pepsi moment to which he refers was not a good thing
March 30th, 20119:17 pm
Ok, I stand corrected on the scream….(But I didn’t like it)
March 30th, 20119:19 pm
No, not saying THAT Pepsi moment was funny…..just that he makes that reference and Co Cola is a big time sponsor of the show….that’s all……
March 30th, 20119:20 pm
Thia is singing Daniel Could be good but she’s so unemotional that she may ruin the song
March 30th, 20119:22 pm
Well Thia…that was lovely!
March 30th, 20119:23 pm
Technically great, but there was a lot missing
Did not connect emotional with the song at all. D, lack of emotion is going to kill her.
March 30th, 20119:24 pm
dondee…that’s what I meant…it doesn’t hurt Coke for him to mention a bad moment in Pepsi’s history. I wonder how the powers that be at Coke will react.
Her singing is lovely but mechanical
March 30th, 20119:25 pm
Probably the purest voice in the competition. If she had waited for a couple years, Wow
March 30th, 20119:26 pm
I thought it was her best performance so far. She’s still not old enough? experienced enough? to know what she’s singing but this is the first time I’ve seen a genuine effort from her to connect with the song instead of just making it sound pretty.
March 30th, 20119:30 pm
Casey is singing Your Song…..I hope we see great Casey instead growly Casey
March 30th, 20119:31 pm
March 30th, 20119:33 pm
OMG……….Casey just did what Paul has been trying to do and ir was WONDERFUL!
March 30th, 20119:34 pm
March 30th, 20119:36 pm
I’m not familiar with Casey’s song, but it appeared that he fumbled through some words.
March 30th, 20119:37 pm
Whoever is voting for Paul, STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!
He is TERRIBLE!!!
Nope, he didn’t fumble at all. That’s exactly the way the song is written
March 30th, 20119:38 pm
Casey is back! CAn’t wait to see what Jacob does and if he is still listening to advice.
March 30th, 20119:39 pm
Fumble? He was word for word.
March 30th, 20119:40 pm
Sorry, just started watching my recording of the show, so I’m a little behind.
Just rewound, Steven is right, those last two notes were brilliant
Thanks for the clear up… just making sure. Like I said, I’m not familiar with the song.
March 30th, 20119:41 pm
Ok, let’s go Jacob.
March 30th, 20119:43 pm
Jacob’s voice… BANANAS!!!
March 30th, 20119:44 pm
I liked Jacob except for the last note
March 30th, 20119:45 pm
It’s clear that he is working on the over dramatics. He did a great job.
I felt like his last note was a little sharp…but he did a beautiful job with the song.
March 30th, 20119:48 pm
I thought he did a great job, too. You can tell he is listening to his producers. I agree about the last note, but totally disagree with Randy.
March 30th, 20119:54 pm
Elaine Benes dances to Bennie and the Jets.
Actually, Haley isn’t doing a bad job with the song…she’s not on the bottom but probably will be bottom 3.
March 30th, 20119:55 pm
Best performance of the night?????????? What the hell is wrong with Randy?
Mrs. Lurkin says she is a little squeaky clean for what she is trying to do. Sounds good to me.
March 30th, 20119:59 pm
Lurkin family bottom 4; Naima, Paul, Stefano/Thia
So…the Idols were good tonight. Was it the music that worked or are they really improving that much?
