You can check out Constantine Maroulis making love to the camera AND holding his daughter Malena here. He is currently touring with “Rock of Ages” across the country, including the Fabulous Fox Theatre July 5 to 10.
- 19 Entertainment president Iain Pirie told USA Today that the addition of an 11th person on the “Idols Live!” tour was made before the Casey Abrams save last night.
“It was actually totally unconnected,” Pirie says. “Any of them could have been in the bottom. Whether that person was saved or not saved, we made the decision that we wanted to tour these 11 kids and make an exception this year and really celebrate the strength of this cast.”
Last year’s tour was one of the weakest ever in terms of ticket sales. But given the strength and depth of this year’s cast, “Idol” is clearly willing to absorb the extra cost of the 11th performer in hopes of getting strong sales reminiscent of seasons 7 and 8.
- And here’s a story about Simon Cowell and “The X Factor” from USA Today that includes quotes from me. I am scheduled to talk to Simon one on one by phone Monday for a few minutes. I haven’t done so in that fashion since season two!
Here’s a portion:
Unlike on Idol, where Cowell was just a judge, albeit a highly paid one, he is the creator and an executive producer of X Factor as well as a judge. This is his baby.
That’s one reason why Atlanta Journal-Constitution blogger Rodney Ho, one of those who sensed a loss of interest on Cowell’s part last year on Idol, expects a more energized version in the fall. “I am certain Simon will put his heart and soul into X Factor.”
