A second top 10 country hit for Kelly Clarkson with ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay’

Kelly Clarkson’s duet with Georgian Jason Aldean has reached top 10 on the country chart with “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”

Click to watch Jason Aldean & Kelly Clarkson, Don't You Wanna Stay.

It’s her second country hit. She dueted a countrified version of “Because of You” with her buddy Reba McEntire in 2007.

Jennifer Hudson has a new single, “Where You At” charting on the R&B charts. More stats here at Idol Chatter.

-I’m speaking to Clay Aiken at 2:15 p.m. today for his upcoming concert here at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Any questions? Email me at rho@ajc.com.

He sang the National Anthem at the NHL All Star Game in Raleigh, N.C., his hometown. I’ve never heard him sing it before and wow, it’s good.

That’s one of my new favorite songs. I think I’ve listened to it about a hundred times in the last week alone. :-) Good for Kelly!

Magnifique – vraiment. Even with the melisma. Still, I prefer the straight (sic) version Adam did at that Army base way back.

Love love love that Kelly song!

RoHo, the only really bad part about the arm-cutting in “127 Hrs” is where he has to er, sever the nerves.

I prefer the melody unaltered. The national anthem should not be open to vocal interpretation, IMO. Just my humble opinion. He did sing it well, though.

Great song for Kelly – NOT country at all. And she does look great. One of the most versatile singers ever – never a harsh note, never off-key, always magnificent.

I too thought Clay sounded great. He’s got a really lovely voice. Glad he’s having a good steady career.

Kelly Clarkson is the best American Idol winner ever. No one, with the exception of Crystal Bowersox, has ever come close to her voice. And the idiot teenagers who vote had to pick Mr. Pretty Boy instead of Bowersox. Where is he now girls??

Well, to be fair, this is more in the pop country than actually country realm, but yes, she can do country well. I recall hearing that Jason was between Kelly and Carrie for duet partner. (Lucky guy!) But I think he made the right choice.

And I was going to take Katy seriously…until she called Lee “Mr. Pretty Boy.” After that, I figured she was kidding. ;)

Best idol ever? Of course the idol each person likes is the “best ever”. Some are just itching for someone to argue with their opinions. Where are all the Adam fans? They usually like to start stuff because Adam is closing in on world domination, ya know? And Carrie fans, now they have every right to claim Carrie as the best ever–most sales, most awards, most attractive, etc. Enough of that, who’s best is only who you are a fan of and there are lots of Kelly fans here. They aren’t in competition with each other any more.

As for the National Anthem, Clay did a nice job and he does have a good voice. It wasn’t a competition. Certainly we have all heard many sing the anthem who were a LOT worse! Others have sung it and made it nearly unrecognizable.

Deirdre

rusty…whoever you like is ok with me. I like them all(even Lee sometimes when I’m tired and can’t fight it) and think they are all very brave for subjecting themselves to our criticism. I think Kelly is the best with Carrie a close second but that’s just my opinion and you’re opinion is just as good as mine around here…..no arguments(although I love to argue as someone pointed out a few weeks ago)

Country is probably a good direction for KellyC and they will embrace her as they did Carrie. Good for Kel. Rod, you could ask Clay if it is Broadway he is doing later this year or something else? Clay did a super job with the NA at the Hockey All Star game. Hate when some want to put negative spin on what he and others do. It’s not a competition, people, there’s room for all.

You have a point Rusty, but I don’t hear anyone saying Lee was the best ever, and the only person saying that Josiah is the best ever is Josiah. So that doesn’t really count. It is nice to see that some people love them some Clay, and some people love them some Adam, etc.

Obviously, all the names thrown around are very talented. I think Kelly is the best Idol winner to date mostly because she’s also the most versatile winner. It’s not to say I don’t love Carrie and think she’s amazing as well. Kelly might toy with the idea of releasing country material at some point, but she’s stated time and again that she loves pop because it gives her the freedom to play around with different styles/genres.

Sam, I can safely say that I have not gone to a movie theater to watch a movie that I ended up not liking since that Garp piece of junk that Robin Williams did a while back. Luckily my parents paid for that one. I only go see films that I know I should like. I’ll leave the artsy fartsy chick flicks for the artsy fartsy chicks. Therefore, no Black Swan for me.

In fact I don’t think I have watched an Oscar Best Picture nominee in the theater since Titanic and before that it was Forest Gump. Two movies at the top of my list of films I have seen, but will never ever watch again. Wait, was Avatar nominated for Best Picture, hmmm shows you how much I keep up with the Oscars. That is the best picture EVER, A-Team just below it and Zombieland.

Sam-A

January 31st, 2011
4:07 pm

I did really like “Titanic”, and “Forrest Gump” is in my top 50 films ever, but we must agree to disagree with “A-Team” and “Zombieland” and I hadn’t the slightest inclination to waste money on “Avatar” – friends said it was “okay” and “very blue” – which were my clues to stay away.

JTesla

Just found a list of Best Pictures nominees, didn’t realize that the Lord of the Rings trio were nominated. So between Avatar, 3 Lord of the Rings movies, and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, I’ve watched in the theater 5 nominees since 2000, and I caught one more on video with Gladiator.

I’m now an expert on the Oscars!

For the record Sam, I loved Titanic, but it’s too sad for me to watch again. I liked Forrest Gump in the theater, but on a second viewing I realized that it just made me angry.

Avatar is the awesome! How about The Hangover? No?

Latest news on the grandbaby front:

The murmur is caused by a “not small” but “not large” hole between the two lower chambers (ventricles, I believe, if I remember my Anatomy & Physiology correctly.)

How dare Clay Aiken wear a hockey jersey without expressly and overtly indicating to the casual viewer that he either played, knew someone who played, or enjoys the viewing of the sport of Ice Hockey. I understand that Clay has sung the Nat’l Anthem many time s before for the Raleigh Hockey Team.
so some think it was a given that Clay being from Raleigh should sing. Clay is very poplar in his home town of Raleigh. Some critizing the way Clay sung the Anthem, it was absolutely great
compared to some of the “more hip” artist that we all have survived thru their rendition —Do I need to call any Names?

Clay did a a great job with the national anthem. I think his attire was perfect for someone supporting the players in a game he enjoys, in Raleigh which he loves. I will say though, being Canadian, I was really puzzled by what the Canadian Tenors did to OUR anthem. THEY were in suits and completely managed to mangle it… God forbid anyone tried to sing along.I’m not sure what they were thinking.

My grand-daughter was born with 3 holes in her heart. She is now 4 1/2 and two of them have closed over on their own and they continue to monitor her every year. She also has a murmur. She is the most active child I have every seen , I can’t keep up with her. They expect the last one to close on it’s own also. She has never required surgeries or medication. My co-workers son had a hole in his heart closed this year…he is 5. He was in hospital for 2 days and he’s great.

Good Morning!

Back from my Dad’s and have had a chance to read all the threads, so I’m up to date.

I won’t make any comments on last Thursday’s Nashville auditions except to say that I thought Lauren Alaina was good.

Big congrats to Rickster and family on little CK (or is it CJ?). In reading the comments on his heart problems, may I add mine as well? I was born what they call a “blue baby”, was premature (10 weeks early), had a heart murmur and only weighted 3.15. I have lived to be a great grandmother and was never stopped from doing ANYTHING. In high school, I was very active, playing all sports that a girl could play as well as being a cheerleader all four years. Later in life, I played softball and was a clogger for over 15 years, as well as a league bowler (20 years). Your grandson will be fine and will do whatever activity he chooses. Best of luck and remember, your friends here will continue the prayers.

Also, for those who care, Memory is better and she goes back to the vet tomorrow. I appreciate the concerns.
