Clay Aiken coming to Cobb Energy Centre Feb. 16; Carrie Underwood’s ‘Mama’s Song’ goes top 5

color

Clay Aiken is coming to Atlanta again but on his own solo tour, not the goofier Ruben Studdard combo deal he did last summer.

He’ll be at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center on Feb. 16. Tickets go on sale Friday, December 17, at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.com.

- Carrie Underwood’s “Mama’s Song” has seen a burst of airplay growth, possibly fueled by her massive American Country Awards victory Monday night. It jumps into the top 5 on the Mediabase 24/7 country chart, a bonafide hit and not a “radio failure” as I thought might happen a couple months ago when the song was stalling out at around 19.

The song jumped 644 spins week over week, its biggest leap since I started tracking it. At 6,972 spins, it has jumped ahead of Tim McGraw and George Strait singles, which are still climbing and past Brad Paisley’s recent No. 1 hit “Anything Like Me.” It still needs at least another 1,000 spins to make it top 2 but that’s actually within reach.

-Funny Conan O’Brien joke last night about Jennifer Lopez:

“Jennifer Lopez’s ex husband is trying to release a sex tape he made of the two of them. She’s upset because he wants to release this. Jennifer Lopez says she plans to keep people from seeing it by promoting it heavily.”

- “A whole new season with a whole new attitude,” the voiceover says with this Steven Tyler-focused promo:

Here’s a solo promo with Randy Jackson:

Didn’t J.Lo already release a sex tape? You mean she used a different route to become famous in the first place?

Thanks for the numbers, I think we can call it good on Mama’s Song.

I can live without hearing/reading another word about “Mama’s Song”.

This Steven Tyler can be quite a role model for these Idol kids. He has been big in the rock and roll music business and knock on wood so far has lived to tell about it. That Keith Richards should wish he looked so good when he was that age. And that also goes for Brian Jones as well.

I coulda sworn that “funny” and “Conan O’Brian” were two words that could not be used in conjunction with each other without the use of the qualifier “Not.”

okay… so “Conan O’Brian” is actually two words in itself… but you get the idea! :-)

Another meeting of the “Council of Legendary Figures” to attend to. (This time of year… we meet to make sure that Santa’s doing okay & Christmas deliveries are on track.) So I’ll see everyone tomorrow.

(Of course, in Sakura’s case, it’ll be Tuesday. So I hope you have a great weekend.)

Rodney: New blog entry with good news for local Clay Aiken and Carrie fans. And more… promos!

Um, well, as a “local” Carrie fan, I think it’s good news, but I was hoping it had something to do with Carrie being in/near Atlanta… ;)

Sad news: The precious little Zebra Evidence, found hurt on I-75 as a baby a couple years ago, has died at his rescue home, Noah’s Ark, south of Atlanta. Related to the terrible injury he suffered after apparently falling out of a truck. So sad – I’d seen him and he was beautiful and seemed to be leading a very happy life with the wonderful people who run the lovely facility.

Rickster, don’t bring up Santa, I have already been confronted with the “Is Santa real” question. Kid you are only 5 give me a few more years to enjoy the whole Santa thing.
