Hollywood portion supersized for season 10 and begins taping Dec. 6

Joe’s Place, the home for spoilers, said “Idol” will bring the 240-plus finalists to Hollywood on Dec. 6 and pare them down over 11 days, far longer than the past.

Competition starts Dec. 7 in Pasadena. Half will perform Dec. 7 and half on Dec. 8. Over the next four days or so, he believes “Idol” will get it down to 45 to 50 people. Those folks will get the “package” and we will eventually get to vote (perhaps online) for them and help pare down the top 12.

There is still no evidence that “Idol’ will limit voting in any way (which I would be for) but I’m certainly going to ask Nigel or anybody of authority first chance I get.

And here are some new “Idol” promos:

These two feature likely Hollywood-bound contestants. Good sign: none of these folks are singing “over-done” songs. All good voices, for sure. Any real stars? Too soon to tell.

MJ also got stats that Carrie Underwood earned $1 million at the Hollywood Bowl. Wow!

9 Carrie Underwood, Billy Currington, Sons of Sylvia
Hollywood Bowl; Los Angeles, Calif.
Oct. 2, 2010
$1,020,188; 16,583 of 16,848 (98%); $127.50, $25

“Mama’s Song” was spun 6,337 times from Nov. 26-Dec. 2, up only 118 spins week over week. She holds at No. 8 (and No. 7 in weighted airplay).

I’m kinda intrigued by this idea. And re limited voting…I think Idol is at a point where they almost have to do it. As Ninja keeps pointing out, we will continue to see puppy-eyed male guitar players as winners until something changes with the voting.

Also…if the AT&T website that has been mentioned for preliminary voting doesn’t limit voting, the site will very likely crash.

Those folks will get the “package” . . .

Well, bless their hearts! ;-)

So glad that Carrie earned that million bucks; now she can do some Christmas shopping!

Let’s all send her our “wish” lists.

Remind me not to audition for Idol, I really don’t want the “package”.

Otherwise, *yawn* wake me in January.

Finally we’re getting back to the topic at hand. Tho, I have to say, I’m a bigger fan of the blog in the off-season. Does that make me weird? ;)

But anyway. I couldn’t see the promos, but from the contestant clips. I like the 3rd guy in the first one. He has a bit of a Ray LaMontagne quality about him. Not just the facial hair. And the first girl in the second clip has a really strong voice. Super early, yes, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re Top 50s.

Oh, and , “packages?” Is this code for my Christmas present? The one I asked Santa for yesterday? Then, YES. ;)

After watching the clips…..I’m almost afraid to say this out loud….I think I might actually like S. Tyler.

D, good thing you just typed it instead. ;)

Also, since we never get a lot of Brooke White on the blog. Here’s a little song she wrote for the holidays. Don’t know much, but it’s catchy and cute.

And I have to say, she looks beyond adorable in glasses!

Porter is home!!! One of the greatest things I have ever experienced in my life was seeing my Son and Daughter in law bring that little miracle into their home last night after 51 days in neonatal intensive care and 1 neuro surgery. GOD IS GREAT!

I bet the next time KPH hears the song, “I’ll be home for Christmas” he’ll be just a bit more emotional.

Thanks everyone very much! And yep Rickster you are right even though my 2 sons were born in December. One on Christmas eve and one on the 17th. Both were premature however and not at home for Christmas the year they were born. Porter will be though and his first trip other than doctors appointments will be to our house for Christmas. I can hardly wait. :-)

After watching the clips I can daresay I do not like Steven Tyler so far. He’s bringing the ick factor “for me.”

In the still of the bottom video, he kinda looks like a wax statue of a younger Steven Tyler that’s been sitting in the heat too long.

Okay… this is just really weird. Somebody at Pandora Radio must REALLY be smoking something weird.

I’ve got my “Chick Rock” station – which normally plays artists like Nora Jones, Michelle Branch, Kelly Clarkson, etc. – and now it’s playing “Barry White!”

and no, i’m not being gushy, but after watching Nana’s great grands come home, and now KPH’s grand, and although Maggie isn’t doing so well at the moment, we all are praying that D’s pup girl will be well soon… and so many other things.

Morning, all.

In a case of I hope this dream doesn’t come true, (like the one I had with JT pole dancing in my parents’ basement) I had a dream that I was watching the season premiere of AI… and it royally stunk.

Good Morning.

Agree with D, a very quiet weekend here.

Was very glad to hear that little Porter went home. What a wonderful Christmas for KPH and family!

Noticecd that linny mentioned the blog twins and thought I would give an update. Both are doing great. Robin is pulling up and walking around things holding on to them. Robert just watches her and tries to pull up but hasn’t quiet figured out how to do it himself. Mommy has her hands full and with the other baby due in 2 months (and on bed rest) she is trying to rest all she can.

At least the birds came back for the win. Thought they were going to lose it.

We lost electricity for about 5 minutes this morning. With temps in the 20’s, I was a little worried.

I can’t find anything newsworthy in Idol-land. Maybe Rodney’s inner circles can come up with something.

Hi y’all,

Good morning. Brrrr. Finally thawed out on this chilly Monday. Super quiet weekend/day on Idol World.

Did anyone catch the CMT Artist of the Year? Carrie had a nice tribute from Randy Travis and Smokey Robinson. (BTW, reports were wrong. Smokey did not sing Carrie’s songs, just introduced her before she did a medley.) It was kind of fun. Tho, country folks sure like their awards… ;)

In something totally unrelated to Idol….

Former Dallas Cowboy “Dandy” Don Meredith, an original member of the Monday Night Football broadcast team, died of a brain hemorrhage.

When a game was no longer in doubt, he always sing,

“Turn out the lights, the party’s over. It seems that all good things must end.”

(It was his version of the “Fat Lady” singing.)

So long Cowboy!

Didn’t know about Don Meredith. He and terry Bradshaw were always my two fave NFL players. Thanks for sharing Rickster.

Now I know that I’m old, but senile, nope, or maybe so. I have spent over an hour looking for my measuring cups and dang it, I can’t find them and don’t remember where I put them. I’m doing more baking and need my cups!!!!
