Ryan Seacrest signs three more years for $60 million to radio

Ryan SeacrestRyan Seacrest is a producer and on-air TV host. But his roots go back to radio, which he truly loves.

And he proved it by re-signing with Clear Channel Communications for $60 million over three years, according to the New York Times.

He not only hosts a morning show on KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, hosts “American Top 40″ and does a syndicated afternoon show (which Star 94 recently axed), he plans to start a record label and live concert series, the story says.

The deal is far greater than the one he signed in 2008 for $35 million.

In other words, there are no signs Seacrest is looking to cut back his workload, girlfriend or not.

- And Kellie Pickler fans who missed the “CMA  Country Christmas” on ABC last night, can see her croon “Santa Baby” in a luscious red dress, courtesy of MJ:

I’m wondering how Kellie could sing poured into that dress. Merry Christmas from Rodney to the guys!

So Ryan gets $20 million a year…on top of what he gets for Idol??????

In “here we go again news” Maggie has completely stopped using her leg. It’s back to the vet! :-(

Here’s hoping Maggie’s situation is just a temporary setback! Sorry to hear this.

K&C: When are we going to hear something from Kelly? Sad to say I rarely hear her on ATL radio any more, especially since WSB started their (way too early) Christmas music only thingy last week.

There was no mention on last nights “Event” that they are on a hiatis! Should have some warning and mention of when (if) they’ll be back.

The last time there was a “Skating with the Stars”, it was very interresting, and most of the “stars” (Bruce Jenner for example) actually weren’t too bad. This time around, it’s a total joke, from the dreadful Brit or Aussie host down to the “skaters”, who barely move their feet. And last time there were pros I’d actually seen before and watched in competition – there’s only one this time I’m even vaguely aware of. Thank goodness for “Chuck” and “Event”, I’m spared this time around.

With Ryan pulling in the megamillions he is, I’m sure Miss Hough is saying “work, baby, work; we’ll spend your money later!”

No offense to Kellie, but Eartha Kitt OWNS “Santa Baby.” Not a good idea for anyone to cover it. Nice dress, though.

Good morning y’all.

Continued prayers for improvement with the furry friends. D, hope the vet gives you some positive news about Maggie. Nana, glad Memory is getting better.

Well, I love radio, and I would truly love it too, if it paid me $20 million/year! ;)

Sam-A: Kelly is laying low at this point. I believe a new single is scheduled to be out after the holidays. In the meantime, she will be performing in Nashville with a bunch of her friends on December 16th. It is a benefit show for Houses of Hope, which are a series of orphanages in South Africa founded by the father one of her back up singers. (Yes, I will be attending…)

Reposting from previous thread:

What I like about linny’s rambking – there’s a clear line of clever thought running through it.

For the fantasiacs among us: there’s a Mayor’s Masked Ball in Atlanta on Dec 18 with Fantasia billed as the entertainment. It will cost you though, tickets are $500.00.

Presumably Fantasia will not be masked.

So, Ryan gets $20 million a year from radio, add to that what he makes off Idol, is that $5 million a year? Then he has sponsorship deals for hmmm $6 million a year, and producing various shows for $2 million a year. Add in random hosting duties including the New Years for $1 million. In my totally made up Ryan income discussion the guy is making well over $30 million a year (probably more like $50 million a year) all because he was able to say “This is American Idol” in a nice manner.

$35 million between radio and Idol. Which doesn’t factor in the money from producing, sponsorships, hosting, and… I’m sure Ryan does something else too. The funny thing is, if I had 1/5th of that $35 million (which is just one years income)… I’d retire. $5 million is my magic number, and that amount decreases every year.

I doubt there are any Bieberites among us, but maybe this fits under the “unjust success” banner: On Feb 9 next year, there will be special, “select” screenings all over the land of the 3-D movie “Justin Bieber: Never say Never”. Out of 100,000 tickets, 26,000 were sold in the first 12 hrs they were made available.

Here’s what VFTW is saying about voting:

The online voting will take place at AT&T’s website. Auditions will take place for the first 6 episodes (California, Nashville, Milwaukee, New Jersey, Austin, New Orleans in that order). There will then be 5 Hollywood episodes, a live voting kick off episode that highlights the eligible contestants, a reveal episode to announce the top 12, and a wildcard episode to let 3 more people into the finals. The online voting may stay in place until the finals are down to 12.

Oh, forgot to comment on Kellie’s dress. When I watched the program last night, I thought it was unflattering and still think so after watching the clip. She needs to tone it down alittle. She is to pretty to pour herself into something that makes her look that bad. Not a good style.

On the previous thread, once again we were referred to as haters concerning JLo. What would really be nice, is if these people would learn to have a conversation using proper grammar and punctuation. Some of the comments made no sense at all, even after reading it over and over. I wonder how they did in English class. Their comments are just plain puerile.

Can’t remember who said it was their fave, but the streaming radio sta I listen to on computer is now playing Roy Orbison’s “Pretty Paper”. If you “older” ones love great 50’s/60’s music, much of it never heard on Atlanta’s oldie stations, use your Media to search for Richbroradio.com (I found it under “oldies”). They play everything from Ricky Nelson, Fabian, Bobby Vee, Buddy Holly, Brenda Lee, Elvis (ugh! way too much for me), Beatles, Motown, Ben E King, Otis Redding, Brit Invasion, Turtles, Grass Roots – you get the idea. Lots of obscure stuff I hadn’t heard in 30-40 years until I found this station. Even play some old country/pop stuff (Jack Scott, Jimmy Dean, etc) Right ;now playing Chuck Jackson (love him!) “Any Day Now”.

Sam-A

I tried Pandora – was asked to put the music I wanted to hear in, I put Kelly C, Beatles, John and Paul separately, several other faves, and didn’t get any of them. Got lots of obscure female stuff, and some Brit bands unrelated to the Fab 4, but nothing I really wanted to hear. Perhaps I did it all wrong.

However, I do have some great playlists on GrooveShark – lots of my favorite Idols performances from Kelly to Clay to Constantine to David C – dozens along with a bunch of oldies.

It’s cool, but somewhat complicated, at least for my senile old mind. Just type in name of song (or artist) and pluck out what you want. But be careful, easy to get duplicated over and over. I wanted “Try A Little Tenderness” by both Otis and the Commitments, and somehow ended up with about 30 different ones, incl Sinatra, Buble, and people I’ve never even heard of. Took weeks to get them all off my playlist.
